Problem solved. After I visited the quad and library, the hint screen told me "I, the developer did something wrong" and didn't show any hints, so I assumed I couldn't progress. But I could still activate the next scene (rooftop with Gabi) and now I have my hints back.

As a male character, I can't progress anywhere past the "Property of Trinity College" mission. Can do it just fine as a female character though.
