Today marks the 3-year anniversary of when I played Chasing the Ace with some friends on a whim and I felt compelled to come back to say I have not been able to stop thinking about this game ever since.

Chasing the Ace is THE storytelling game against which I compare how well a game facilitates emergent gameplay and unexpected character relationships; no other game has come close to replicating how shockingly petrified and starstruck I felt when my table described Ace finally appearing in the hangar at the end of the game. Like wdym I can come to have a rich enough history over just three hours with a deeply loveable ragtag mecha squadron and our legendary leader who doesn't even have a speaking role that the mere thought of standing in the same hangar with them all is enough to make my stomach swoop!!

I just have to gush about this game. Descended from the Queen is  brilliant at what it does, and Chasing the Ace is an enrapturing take on it. I was not a mecha or sci-fi fan in the slightest until Chasing the Ace grabbed my psyche with the inescapable gravity of a black hole and, without exaggeration, changed my life forever. I'll keep thinking about this game for many more years to come. Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!

I played this with three friends the other night and we all had a great time! My group is very improv and character/storytelling-focused so it took us about three hours to play half of the deck. All of the prompts we drew were excellent, and we really enjoyed having the freedom to hand off prompts and/or ask each other follow-up questions.

We came away feeling overall very happy with the game itself, though we wished we'd seen some prompts that explored relationships between the squad members, rather than always just focusing on the Ace.

Being allowed to draw one more prompt after handing off a prompt would have been nice as well - it was always nice to hear another player's perspective, but it left the active player somewhat behind in development/playtime relative to everyone else.

But all in all, I got to live out my space found family dreams and I loved every second of it, thank you!
