sorry for even later response. I see what you mean but I like the way the gameplay works (I'll explain.) I think the way the game keeps you waiting for something scary to happen but never really lets that tension get released was a pretty effective method of psychological horror, at least for me. and i think the way the elevator/code entering mechanic works, being slow, janky, and awkward, is a good way of making the player feel a sort of sense of discomfort/unfamiliarity. It makes it feel like if something scary were to happen, it would be more difficult to get away. but anyway thats just my opinion. i understand why you called it a visual experience, since the gameplay itself is pretty controlled/lacks freedom. but i just personally don't have a problem with that.
