How do you know what the requirements are when chatting with the girls?

Whenever this happens I can't move on past it no matter how many times I go back and try again.

In act ii on the part where I'm returning through the portal after rescuing the girl from lord runyar it has an error because it can't read properties of null. If you know a workaround or a solution that would be amazing great game BTW.
