"Chronicles of Ekoris: Remastered" is a fascinating and ambitious retro RPG built using the classic RPG Maker 2000 engine. Available for a minimum of just $1.00, this game is perfect for fans of old-school JRPGs and creative, independent development.
The core appeal of the game is its willingness to redefine itself across three distinct chapters. Chapter 1 offers highly experimental features like a Monster Museum and Library; Chapter 2 shifts into a linear, dialogue-heavy city adventure with over 100 NPCs; and Chapter 3 concludes with a satisfying, traditional dungeon crawl experience.
The game beautifully mixes its charming 16-bit nostalgia with modern polish, including new dynamic real-time lighting and animated torches, justifying the "Remastered" title. If you're looking for an ambitious, genre-bending adventure with a very low barrier to entry, this cult classic revival provides unique variety and fun.
Yes, the PHP server is needed.
It acts as the bridge between your game and the Steam API. The PHP scripts are essential for:
- Secure Authentication: They handle the Steam OpenID login process and verification, making sure the user is who they say they are.
- API Communication: They communicate with the Steam Web API to submit scores to leaderboards, unlock achievements, and manage the rewards system.
The alternative would be trying to communicate directly with Steam's API from the game client, which is highly insecure and not recommended by Steam, as it would expose your API key. The PHP server keeps that key safe.
I recently tried out Balance of Crowns, a strategy/simulation game that challenges you to rule a kingdom for 100 years by making yes/no choices. Here’s what stood out to me:
Balance of Crowns is a simple but clever kingdom management game. Every choice feels meaningful as you balance culture, army, and gold, and the multiple endings add great replay value. The pixel art is clean, and the gameplay loop is addictive — definitely recommended for fans of strategy and decision-making games!
Your game is amazing and the code is well written
It would be great if you started working on the following features
1- matchmaking system where 4 teams of 4 players can join the map
- then after killing zombies, collecting items, teams can kill each other and steal their items that they have collected as well
- all items should be in a temp state where it's stored on the server memory
- once a team reaches a safe zone like a bunker or a chopper then the team or player can extract successfully. and then the items should be stored in a database on the server. In a storage for this player.
2- then player can upgrade their armor, weapons or clothes from collected items.
3- players can sell these items in a simple database exchanger between players (bid system).
That's all, a simple 3 featuers if they were implemented, then your game will be more like extraction type game and amazingly more fun than it's now.
