Cheers, sir!  Yeah, we thought about Steam Workshop about mid-way through the game's content updates.  At this point, the easiest thing to do without a lot of modification to the engine would be Steam Workshop for text scripts.  Like adding new languages.

However, we are currently getting ready to start work on the sequel; we're actively in the design phase.  Putting Steam Workshop as a feature in that would be much easier at the beginning so that people would add items and stuff.

Hey there.  Better come up?  Not sure I understand, sorry.

The game comes with a Steam key.  You should be able to generate one from your account.  You will also be emailed a Steam key for the DLC.

I think there is a "redeem Steam key" button in your library or purchases on Itch.

Cheers and happy new year, sire! Hope you like it!

Haha, thanks, but it's already on Steam!

Indeed! Yeah, it is still in early alpha with a lot of stuff still being added and tested. Feel free to sign up for the beta when it arrives.

You should be able to go into your account and request the key. I'm not 100% sure how everyone does it but there is an option on the key page for the game!

Yeah, thankfully we got the Steam key thing sorted. As for release date, yes, we did! It was supposed to be today but due to staggered approval from Valve of the store, cards, and executables, plus some issues on our end, we missed it! Such is game development though. We are aiming for Monday or Tuesday (September 5th or 6th), pending finally approval from Valve.

Launch discount will be adjusted since we missed the launch date and has already pushed the game back a month. We are trying to think of an extra bonus for everyone as well. This game has had the most rocky development of any we have done and it is probably one of the most simple games!

Great! Cheers!

Excellent! Yeah, we don't think ignoring people is fair or a good idea. And we have also been on that side of the fence with other devs. We'll get this whole key business sorted out!

Hey, can you e-mail us the key link you used to claim the game at Should help us clear this up!

I'm not sure. I talked to someone who has the game and they said the Steam key redemption button was there. Still talking to about it. Might have something to do with the differences between purchases and download links though. Waiting on official response from them.

Talking to currently, just wanted to give you guys a heads up!

Hmm, that's pretty weird. We uploaded a good deal of keys for the game. I'll check into the system to see what's up! Thanks for letting us know about that.

UPDATE: Well, I can see some keys have been claimed already. Not sure why they don't show up for you though. I will try to contact to see what's up!

Excellent! I know they have a FAQ or something about it somewhere.

Haha, neither did I actually until I clicked on the wrong thing. It's all good though. As for the key, I'm not 100% sure how they are retrieved from but since you own the game there should be something in your account to acquire the Steam key. Maybe check where it lists the games you have on Itch and there should be an option to redeem the key somehow. If not, I'd e-mail them to inquire.

Damn, dude, are you a bot? Your post history is pretty... repetitive.

No, that's fine to inquire! At least we know people are still curious! The August 15th, much to our shame and dismay, is being moved to September 1st. Will we move it again, no? Why did we move it now? The process to get games for release on Steam takes some time. They have to vet the store page, then the builds. We don't think there is enough time to get that done by the 15th so we added some padding. We just got the cards and assets approved two days ago and the store page won't be approved until probably the 16th or 17th. Then the build has to be approved. Due to this process there is just no way we'll ever make that, sadly.

One the flipside... that gives us time to add more polish while we wait for approval, get all the hooks and assets in place for stories 2, 3, and 4 for episodic release, and get all the keys out to everyone so they are ready to roll (keys get posted tomorrow). Plus we can finally get this damn beta out for testing before launch on the 1st. We had to do two engine upgrades so that slowed the beta down a bit (compiling takes a long time).

In short, we share any frustration in the delays and the long process we have undergone. Even if you guys aren't frustrated with it, we are and will be relieved when we finally get it out. And then we can focus on getting each episode out on time. Which will be easy since all the heavy lifting is done! If you have any questions, let us know!

UPDATE: Actually, right about now... with the keys.

Very welcome! Yeah, we aren't thrilled about it but the extra time definitely made it look better and we added in some good changes.

Indeed it has! We have a super small staff and pushed it back to August 15th as the game was rebuilt in Godot. It is a sad state of affairs but true. It should coincide with the first big content update for The Dope Game.

Thank you, squire!

Thank you! :D

Cheers, mang!

The game has not been Greenlit so we have no Steam keys. You can vote on it over at Greenlight, but only vote yes IF you like the game.

Hey there. We do not give keys for Greenlight votes; it is against Valve's rules and is unethical. You should only vote if you like the game. If you are trying to get a free key, we do giveaways from time to time on our Steam community page and sometimes with Cubic Bundle.

Cheers, mang!

Well thanks!

We do not give people keys for voting on Greenlight. It is against Valve's rules and fairly unethical. You should only vote for the game if you actually want it on Steam, not for a reward.

Thank you!

Nice! Cheers, sir!

Cubic Bundle is currently doing a giveaway of keys for Raise Your Own Clone actually. Check it out!
