I liked this! Really dig the whole gnw style you had going on here. The gameplay was simple, but well executed. I was able to get into a really nice flow after a while, and got a score of 285 :D

Ayy, thank you!
The teleporting quirk is, in fact, intended by design. I know it might feel a bit awkward but I thought being able to instantly switch and retain your position would kind of trivialize the coin collecting part. The dash cooldown visualization thing was something I wanted to add but I unfortunately ran out of time :(
Regardless though, I appreciate you taking the time to try it out! :D
Yeah those are definitely valid points. Admittedly the dash feels pretty lackluster compared to everything else, and enemies are constantly closing in so you don't really have a whole lot of time to stand and heal the generator. Maybe it would've been worthwhile if I increased the heal amount. The coin magnet thing was more of a quality of life thing, but yeah some of the upgrades could've had some tweaks for sure. One obscure detail that literally wasn't mentioned anywhere is that coins actually gain value over time as they get closer to expiring. Not a huge amount (5 base -> 10 max) and I mainly did that as an experiment to see if it would make going for those coins waaay off in the distance more worth it. Not sure if it actually makes that much of a difference, but hey, fun fact.
Thank you for playing though! Glad you enjoyed and appreciate the feedback! :)
Sure! If I add anything that's worth another look I'll let you know :)
Can't remember exactly how far I got (I think it was around 20k?) but I actually killed myself on purpose because I was getting bored 💀Like I totally could've kept going but I was like "nah, this is waaaay too easy and repetitive I gotta change something"
Hehe, glad you liked it! I actually tried to give enemies their own health bar or something to indicate how much health they had but couldn't get it to work how I wanted. Could be something for me to revisit in the future though.
I think pico 8 is honestly a nice little tool, but it can be pretty jarring if you're coming from other engines like Unity or Godot, and even more so if you're not familiar with lua. I definitely had some growing pains trying to learn how to use it because it's really different than what I'm used to working with. But once things started clicking it became sooo much more fun to use.
Hey, other programmer here. What you saw is pretty rare. Like spobuboblingo said, you're the first person to call that out, so I'm glad someone finally caught that. There's actually a second variant of that easter egg which is even rarer, though. God forbid you (or anyone else) see that one:
I was not entirely sober when I wrote this, and it was originally meant to be a joke, but in the end we decided to keep it in.
ay whoa, you're still here! :o
honestly, development has slowed down a lot lately, been feeling really burnt out, so I've been working on it less and less. I still don't want to completely abandon it though, and want to keep working on it. will definitely have to scale down the scope a lot though—it's gotten to the point where it's gotten pretty overwhelming since I'm doing it all myself.
tbh don't really expect it to really blow up, but it'd be awesome if it did. thanks for sticking around though. the fact that someone out there (other than just my friends) actually likes this silly thing I've made makes it worth it. so thank you :)
The game can save, but it might have gotten wiped after I updated the game. I'm not sure if there's a way around that, but you could always just press "p" to level yourself back up to where you were before like I mentioned in the other post.
Sorry about your save. :( I'll definitely look into it to see if there's a way I can prevent that from happening in the future. Thank you for playing though, I'm glad you had some fun with it!
You can press "p" to instantly level yourself up and get as many skill points as you want. Then just max out your jump/haste. Also wow I did not expect anyone to find out about that area. :o
Could you elaborate on the skill not working? As long as you have at least 1 skill point on it, it should work. Also make sure to check that you're pressing the right control key and not the left one.
