Suggestion: sound effects, obviously space sound doesn't travel in a vacuum so not necessarily like explosions or anything, but like target locks for the PDC/torpedos, collision hazards, maybe a confirmation sound for torpedo hits could all be nice and would make the game a bit more immersive. Or just some ambient music maybe.

With the other game you have been working on/talking about, I could see both converging to a game where you switch between dual roles of commanding a larger force and having to plan out paths/times to intercept and pick your battlefields, and then taking control of the action directly controlling your fighter in combat.
If you want to get real realistic/"expanse"-esque, you could have the fights take place not when they actually happen, but with delays based on how long it would take to transmit info back to home base, so in the commander's seat the player has to make decisions about other things before they know the outcome of a fight that is theoretically happening concurrently
Torpedoes are great! I'm having some slight difficulty reprogramming my brain now that space and right click fire different things lmao.
I think with the current spawn rates for torpedoes, you honestly get more out of cycling between the landing pads than camping (or at least it feels that way)
One suggestion, if you spawn on a landing pad with torpedoes, could you automatically pick them up? Currently I seem to have to fly up a little bit and land in order to grab them.
I also think randomizing landing pad spawns so you aren't always on the same one could be fun.
A couple thoughts, definitely my opinion might not be your vision for the game or outside the scope:
I feel like landings require a little bit too much finesse, and often the spin of the moon causes a fine landing to then become an impact while I’m waiting for repairs. I think a slightly wider margin of errors for good landings and bad landings before destruction would be useful, and maybe locking in place when you land until you launch again.
I also think a “auto-docking” feature would be nice, possibly as an alternative to but not removing manual docking, auto docking would be slower but safer
For ship to ship, a little bit more fuel would be nice, right now I feel like finding a stable orbit and shifting only when necessary is the only practical way to play, but being able to use burns to try and close distances to defend would be awesome. It may be more related to the landing issue then an actual issue with fuel since it feels so risky to land burning fuel feels like a similar risk.
I also feel like, if you’re intending to develop this concept further, fewer and more dangerous AI would be an improvement over a ton of relatively simple AI, and a wave or level system would be awesome.
I love the mechanics you’ve built, it feels very satisfying to play and I keep coming back I it but I think the frustration that builds from some of the sticking points makes it hard to really immerse myself in the game. Looking forward to future updates!
