100% We struggled with balancing more than anything else this jam.

Thank you very much for trying out our game. This has got to be the best comment I have seen within the jam so far on any game I have checked out.
This was our first game, never touched pixel art or godot before this, but we have experience coding. We knew our biggest challenge would be balancing the game, and you, like many others, have hit on some of the weak points within our game.
If we were to redo it at this point, we would likely make every round of the game last 30 seconds. We experimented with rolls per round early on, but it felt right to have a time pressure given that it sped up the game. We played around with a ton of different times per round, but ultimately it ended up being too short in the early game.
Another thing we struggled with was incentive. as you mentioned, no real sense of progression. We are still not 100% sure how to make that better, but we still have tons of ideas for different abilities and making the game more "readable". Thank you again!
Hey Lestavol, thanks for playing! Unfortunately, the time mechanics were not shoed-in for the jam :( Just first time game dev and we weren't super sure how to balance the game. Our goal for count down was removing the faces and "counting down" your chances to get points, but I do agree we were a bit ambitious and maybe added a bit too much. Anyway, thanks mate!
Liked the game! A few suggestions:
- Left click was not in the description, but wasdzx were, so I didn't realize it was a shooter for a defeats. Adding that would go a long way!
- Adding some sort of victory screen just after defeating the last of the salad might help. The first few times I played through, I only caught a small glimpse of the upgrades before I accidentally clicked on one after killing a salad.
Either way, good stuff and great idea!
Hey BurkyTurkey, just played through the game and got 4 coins.
- It is a bit floatier than I would prefer, especially for how difficult some of the sections are.
-Maybe add a way to drop down through the wooden platforms. I ended up getting stuck in the secret area but was unskilled enough to get out.
- I loved the hidden area! Secluded enough that you could miss it, but visible enough that if you know what to look for, it is there!
Just some smol suggestions. Loved the game, great stuff!
Hey Rob. What a great first game jam game! I loved the different enemy types and the idea of "health" being a strange power. Two suggestions:
- Having an option to turn off screen shake would be nice. The photo-sensitivity warning at the beginning was a great touch!
- Maybe give the cube different abilities when the strange power is higher? Kinda like the closer you are to exploding, the stronger you become, but ultimately you need to be at 0 to escape?
Just suggestions, nice game, good work!
