Pretty sure you can't mail items between save types. I know that in v 0.8.2 saves were differentiated with a character prefix, if that is still the case for v 0.9 you can change the save types and do it.

So uh, great game. Ik it's in hiatus but maybe figure out a frame cap since it's maxxing the CPU and running over 1500 fps.
