I think i figured out why some people can’t get the microphone to record their audio. The reason is that godot only supports microphones with 1 or 2 channels. A lot of newer computers(like windows 11) and headphones are 4 channels and thus godot can’t read it. I haven't tried fixing it yet but according to a quick google search some computers can be switched to 1-2 channels by going to sound settings and changing it to stereo (windows has this option but my computer didn't allow it to switch). Another option is a virtual audio software that can combine the 4 channels into 2. The recommendation the AI overlords gave was Voicemeeter, but again I haven’t tried it yet. Finally, if YeahMaybe wants a way to possibly fix it for everyone. There is a fix added to a non-masters version (not official so not newest version) that you can find here https://github.com/SleeeepyZhou/Maodot. I haven’t tried any of this myself but if someone can confirm if any of these ideas work – or better options, let me know
edit: i got my microphone to work if its plugged directly into the computer. then the option to use sound settings does work (found in system - sound - input, then click on your desired microphone to access properties)
