Hey great game! I think I learnt more about Quantum physics by reading the game description than I ever knew previous haha. The switch between states was smooth and the concept really appealing. I loved the audio integration too and the repeated messages when I fell out of existence. It was satisfying to complete too, I knew every time I failed it was my fault and was determined to make that last jump haha. Neat.
Thanks for the review! In the end I think it was a bit of a complicated idea to complete in the timeframe but I'm glad the underlying concept showed through. I was pretty happy with the art direction at the end of the design process when I started working on the turret, aliens and sky so thanks for that feedback too!
You know what, while this was frogger inspired I have no doubt crossy road played a role. I totally forgot about that game but I did give it a good go on mobile a long time ago, I'll have to recheck it for inspiration! Holdable keys is definitely on the feature list for a future reincarnation of this game. Thanks for the comment!
Like others have said, there seems to be some game breaking loops going on which is a shame. Beyond that the game rocks! Great art and storytelling here! It's a really quirky and oddly comforting vibe that feels very dreamlike, with all this folk pitching in to help you do something ridiculous. Losing health as a currency for conversation is a neat mechanic too. Love it.
Neat first Jam game. Movement was a little tricky with the ghosts disappearing but I like the mechanic. It's nice you added a reset so if we mess up we can try again quickly. Art was nice, particularly the frog shaped house. Loved it when you saw the face and the sound effect of the falling tooth hitting you made me jump haha. Well done.
Nice work! Great use of the limitation from a narrative and visual perspective, the world has that grim fairytale vibe. It's like banjo-kazooie/zelda64 got hit with the grimdark ugly stick and I love it. The player controller is really fluid too, when I get a moment I will take a shot at the speedrun mode since you've thrown the challenge out there on the itch page haha.
Oh yeah I just love the frog model btw
Hey thanks so much for the positive feedback! Makes me feel good that you'd be willing to try it again despite the flaws. I actually think this concept has potential (with a more responsive/intuitive control type) and look forward to adding more mechanics to really build on the "mine and move" concept.
My personal best is 701, and that's with knowing where everything is and all the best routes haha. No pressure, but if you ever beat that I'll crown you king of the kero caverns. Thanks for playing!
Nice art! Loved the character/frog art but special mention to the low-fidelity background art, it actually had me thinking of samurai jack! The frog jumpscare got me good, great balance of art, animation and audio in that moment. My only gripe is that there's no checkpoint at the frog as the start is very simple and (due to the screen lock) tedious on multiple tries. Otherwise though this is a masterful jam game, love it.
The most frustrating game I've played... and also possibly my favorite. I played so many times to get a win... my frogs kept dying 1 turn from victory. Loved the art and the audio was perfect for this type of game, kept me hooked into the experience. I'd love to see this game expanded upon and rebalanced, but as it stands it's already an awesome game!
Love the hand-drawn style and really impressed with the overall presentation and polish! Felt like I was leaving the safety of home each time I travelled into the forest, great atmosphere. I haven't finished it yet as I kept losing my bearings as I got too greedy collecting supplies, but that's on me. I'll have to revisit it soon to save my frog sis!
Well done! I'm usually not a fan of fiction with these underlying themes as they tend to often glamourize the dark side of things, but I think you did a good job here sending the message that we are all worth something to someone, even when we are beaten down and don't see it. Definitely was an unexpected shift though, as here I was thinking I was just a rockin' frog doing frog things! Nice mechanics, art and design.
