Update me when the game is finished, I'd like to give it a go at again!
Dang the reflections are baked? I wonder what's tanking the frames. Maybe using something like the VisibilityNotifier node to hide things that are far away would help with the web build?
Anyway, good luck with finishing the game.
At first, I was in denial, I loaded up the game, thinking it looked like a neat little rogue-lite. The art was interesting, the idea looked unique and oh boy I wasn't prepared for it.
I started the game, with a water gun, shooting water balloons. But my gun wasn't doing that nice sound effect guns in game usually did. which was disappointing, but didn't bring me the anger that would come afterwards. Then it swapped my gun to one that shoots a line. "Cool a grappling hook", I thought. but then enemies teleporting faster then my dad when he went to get the milk appeared. I shoot them with my elongated line, but it was no use. they had god speed and powers beyond my understanding.
Then it swapped my weapon to an umbrella, I couldn't attack anymore. All I could do is deflect. it took way too much time killing the new blue little slimes, so I bargained my life and dashed into them, pushing them into the void.
After the brief amount of pushing I did, I was back to the start, holding a water gun. I kept on playing, but it was no use. Enemies kept spawning, I kept on shooting them, and they were back in one piece within seconds. I no longer felt like I was progressing, which made me depressed.
After a while, I had enough of my existence, I accepted my faith and started walking on the enemies, waiting for them to cease my existence and bring me to a main menu or a score board. But alas, they had no interest in hurting me. Only floating on my body.
Eventually, one of them started to bite me, and I was met with a game over screen, but the game wasn't done with me yet. It didn't bring me back to the main menu, that would've been too easy,. Instead it flashed my screen with the game's entire color pallet at high blinking speed. If I was suffering from photosensitive epilepsy, it probably would've killed me on the spot.
This game truly made me feel the emotions.
Anyway interesting game, are you guys going to keep on developing it?
Game has an interesting mechanic, which takes a while to understand due to lack of context at the beginning. There's a lot of "interactables" which seem to do nothing. I got stuck at the "press e to move camera" part, couldn't get any further. Overall, there's no sugar coating it, this game feels very unfinished.
Are you guys going to keep updating the game?
Interesting use of the theme. Definitely a fun way to spin it into a puzzle game. I could definitely see this idea incorporated into a bigger game. However, the controls feel very stiff to me, especially when you're in side-scroller view. it feels off that you can't go up and down(it could be replaced by jump or crawl for exemple). Also, the jump + movement not working at the same time is really frustrating(but I guess that's part of the gameplay lol).
Anyway, good job.
Ps: Not a big deal( except for performance freaks like me), but the game runs terrible on my laptop(i'd says it can handle roblox medium level of graphics). I'd presume it's the reflection on the ground that's costly on gpu resources to emulate. If you guys wanted to improve performance for the potato pcs I'd look into baking the reflection while loading the scene. you can barely see the changes in the reflections since the map is mostly static so it wouldn't change much(also chunk loading per section could help).
That was bananas! a original take on the theme. The stealth is a neat idea. However, I would've polished the transition of the fan's turning rate to be smooth instead of instant. Also, it would be nice to have a little effects on the fans to make them seem creepy/deranged, since the mc is "Haunted" by his fans.
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed! The gun being unloaded was meant to teach the player about the reload mecanic. Maybe a few prompts hint would've done the trick instead. As for the jam, the gun is a Lil ol', but also let's just say that it doesn't like being stared at for too long especially when it's hiding.
Finally, if it were to get an update, what would you like to see? Thanks.
I like the idea of a cult of muscular man with paper bags. It gets quick to the spoopy stuff which I appreciate as a Horror game fan. However, I can't say I didn't desire more interactions with the paper bags man. Also, I thought there was going to be something if I dodged the man with a bag. Turns out I just felt off the map. guess he outsmarted me more then I outplayed him by putting a pitfall there XD. Anyway, good job on the game.
Thanks for playing the game! Our artist has heard your feedback and greatly appreciates it! As for the glowing eyed cat, she's got quite the night eye as you saw. I'd recommend conserving some of your stamina when you're in the opening to make a run for it in case she spots you. Hopefully, if you desire as such, you'll be able to bring the kitty home with this trick.
Thanks for playing the game!!! This was one of my first game so the balance might've been rough since it was based around my own skills. But I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for the menu art, it was my teamate during the gamejam who made it with photoshop and a AI program. Thanks for playing our game again!
Overall, a pretty good game, fun concept which has "magic".
Here's my feedback:
Pros:
- Great base idea for a Dungeon Crawler
- Visuals looks very good
- Didn't encounter game breaking bugs
- Health bar and shooting feels good.
Cons:
- Enemies spawn right in front of you sometimes
- Controls feel slightly delayed
- I get often stuck on objects(would be nicer if i were to slide against them instead)
- Projectiles are way too fast to be able to dodge them .
