peak entertainment, sad that it crashes

(1 edit)

It's a decent game, but it's too simple. Once you memorized all the monsters, the game feels like flashcards. I'd be nice of it had a bit of randomization like  that's not my neighbor  for the monster appearances so it'd be more challenging to search for monster.

Update me when the game is finished, I'd like to give it a go at again!

Dang the reflections are baked? I wonder what's tanking the frames. Maybe using something like the VisibilityNotifier node to hide things that are far away would help with the web build?

Anyway, good luck with finishing the game.

At first, I was in denial, I loaded up the game, thinking it looked like a neat little rogue-lite. The art was interesting, the idea looked unique and oh boy I wasn't prepared for it.

I started the game, with a water gun, shooting water balloons. But my gun wasn't doing that nice sound effect guns in game usually did. which was disappointing, but didn't bring me the anger that would come afterwards. Then it swapped my gun to one that shoots a line. "Cool a grappling hook", I thought. but then enemies teleporting faster then my dad when he went to get the milk appeared. I shoot them with my elongated line, but it was no use. they had god speed and powers beyond my understanding.

Then it swapped my weapon to an umbrella, I couldn't attack anymore. All I could do is deflect. it took way too much time killing the new blue little slimes, so I bargained my life and dashed into them, pushing them into the void.

After the brief amount of pushing I did, I was back to the start, holding a water gun. I kept on playing, but it was no use. Enemies kept spawning, I kept on shooting them, and they were back in one piece within seconds. I no longer felt like I was progressing, which made me depressed.

After a while, I had enough of my existence, I accepted my faith and started walking on the enemies, waiting for them to cease my existence and bring me to a main menu or a score board. But alas,  they had no interest in hurting me. Only floating on my body.

Eventually, one of them started to bite me, and I was met with a game over screen, but the game wasn't done with me yet. It didn't bring me back to the main menu, that would've been too easy,. Instead it flashed my screen with the game's entire color pallet at high blinking speed. If I was suffering from photosensitive epilepsy, it probably would've killed me on the spot.

This game truly made me feel the emotions.

Anyway interesting game, are you guys going to keep on developing it?

Game has an interesting mechanic, which takes a while to understand due to lack of context at the beginning. There's a lot of "interactables" which seem to do nothing. I got stuck at the "press e to move camera" part, couldn't get any further. Overall, there's no sugar coating it, this game feels very unfinished.

Are you guys going to keep updating the game?

Interesting use of the theme. Definitely a fun way to spin it into a puzzle game. I could definitely see this idea incorporated into a bigger game. However, the controls feel very stiff to me, especially when you're in side-scroller view. it feels off that you can't go up and down(it could be replaced by jump or crawl for exemple). Also, the jump + movement not working at the same time is really frustrating(but I guess that's part of the gameplay lol).

Anyway, good job.

Ps: Not a big deal( except for performance freaks like me), but the game runs terrible on my laptop(i'd says it can handle roblox medium level of graphics). I'd presume it's the reflection on the ground that's costly on gpu resources to emulate. If you guys wanted to improve performance for the potato pcs I'd look into baking the reflection while loading the scene. you can barely see the changes in the reflections since the map is mostly static so it wouldn't change much(also chunk loading per section could help).

Awesome little platformer! The jump felt really good, and the level design was fun.  However, I didn't realize that the ghosts disappeared when you looked away. Maybe a little hint at the beginning would be nice.

Nice  little game!

Nice art style, story is good. There's a unnerving feel, however, the attack being so quick and the enemy's behavior being so simple makes you feel invincible and not scared. Overall, good game.

nostalgia game on the good old rpg maker horror games. However, wish it had more game-play and less talking. Anyway, good job!

Honestly I don't know what was going on, I had a crew mate follow me for a while and become a weird entity and attack me sometimes. I tried to do the puzzles but i don't know if I was completing or failling them. Nice concept tho.

This game makes for a very good turn off your brain and enjoy type of game. However, for me, the very low amount of frame in the animation made it feel like the controls are delayed compared to the game's pace. Which was a turn off in the feels department. Anyway, good job!

The experience was very laggy in browser.  bet this is due to the monster's pathfinding update rate, to fix this i recommend updating whenever he moves a certain distance. However, I liked the music and death animation.

Cool and original puzzle game. However, the controls weren't very clear and for some reason I could control timmy and make him dodge stuff with the wasd keys. Not sure if that was intended.  Anyway, good work.

That was bananas! a original take on the theme. The stealth is a neat idea. However, I would've polished the transition of the fan's turning rate to be smooth instead of instant. Also, it would be nice to have a little effects on the fans to make them seem creepy/deranged, since the mc is "Haunted" by his fans.

Cool game! fun concept! But, I wish i didn't have to press f4 to close files. Also, I think it needs more spoopy stuff as a horror fan.

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed! The gun being unloaded was meant to teach the player about the reload mecanic. Maybe a few prompts hint would've done the trick instead. As for the jam, the gun is a Lil ol', but also let's just say that it doesn't like being stared at for too long especially when it's hiding.

Finally, if it were to get an update, what would you like to see? Thanks.

Good RogueLike/dungeon crawler game. Upgrades are nice. Gameplay is satisfying. The only thing I would've liked is a bullet indicator.

Man, this game is really hard. I tried to reach the top, but it's so hard to time the jump correctly since you start falling at Mac 2 speed whenever you reach the max height. However, the pursuer mechanic is well implemented and trying to dodge the ghost while platforming is an interesting concept.

You guys nailed the atmosphere and the creepiness! Good job on the game!

The cutscenes we're really well done! However,  the gameplay needs some work as stated on your game page. Anyway, you did a great job delivering this for the Jam! I wonder what it will look like if you decide to finish it!

Really impressive game, that art style is so unique in our day and age!  Love the mechanics as well! Hard to find anything that would need improvement. Good job on the game!

the intro sequence got me hooked. The transition into a platformer is kinda of a neat idea. However, the gameplay itself felt clunky. Nonetheless, I beat the game once I got around that. Anyway, good job on the game!

Really good job on the presentation and the art. However, the pacing was bit too slow for my tastes. Nonetheless, you guys did a great job at delivering something that looks very polished!

I like the idea of a cult of muscular man with paper bags. It gets quick to the spoopy stuff which I appreciate as a Horror game fan.  However, I can't say I didn't desire more interactions with the paper bags man.  Also, I  thought there was going to be something if I dodged the man with a bag. Turns out I just felt off the map.  guess he outsmarted me more then I outplayed him by putting a pitfall there XD. Anyway, good job on the game.

Game was quite interesting and grotesque! I liked it! However, I wish there was a checkpoint at the boss so I didn't have to redo that first section. Nonetheless, a great experience!

Thanks for playing the game! Our artist has heard your feedback and greatly appreciates it! As for the glowing eyed cat, she's got quite the night eye as you saw. I'd recommend conserving some of your stamina when you're in the opening to make a run for it in case she spots you. Hopefully, if you desire as such, you'll be able to bring the kitty home with this trick.

Thanks for playing the game!!! This was one of my first game so the balance might've been rough since it was based around my own skills. But I'm glad you enjoyed it!  As for the menu art, it was my teamate during the gamejam who made it with photoshop and a AI program. Thanks for playing our game again!

Overall, a pretty good game, fun concept which has "magic".
Here's my feedback:
Pros:

  • Great base idea for a Dungeon Crawler
  • Visuals looks very good
  • Didn't encounter game breaking bugs
  • Health bar and shooting feels good.

Cons:

  • Enemies spawn right in front of you sometimes
  • Controls feel slightly delayed
  • I get often stuck on objects(would be nicer if i were to slide against them instead)
  • Projectiles are way too fast to be able to dodge them .
