You can run the game with Steam Proton just fine, but a native version would be nice

Simply download the update, extract to folder, launch the updated version from aforementioned folder. The saves are stored independently of the game. As long as the update is a minor update (0.6.1 > 0.6.2) you can simply ignore the warning upon loading the save.

If the update is major (0.6.0 > 0.7.0) you should make a new save. It might "work" but is not recommended at all as it could bug things out

Use Steam Proton to run it. There are guides online on how to do it. Working on my Kubuntu install just fine
