Hey all 👋

Just launched the Itch page for **Hexborn**, a fast-paced roguelite retro FPS inspired by 90s classics like *Blood* and *Doom* — but twisted through a Gothic horror lens.

You play as a demon-bound mercenary battling cultists, eldritch horrors, and monstrous bosses through procedurally generated dungeons. It’s bloody, fast, and meant to keep you on edge every step of the way.

🎥 Here’s the new teaser trailer:

🕯️ A new devlog is also up on the Itch page, featuring the **Shotgun Cultist**, a smarter ranged enemy designed to break the zombie rhythm.

📄 Check it out here:  👉 https://caspianinteractive.itch.io/hexborn

Would love to hear what you think — and feel free to follow the page for future devlogs or wishlist if you're into this style of game.

Cheers,

Unfortunately not. But I looked at the video and it looks really good, I left a like for you as well.  keep up the great work.

I don't remember the engine version but to clarify, this is a packaged build, so you don't need to open it in the UE Editor. You should run it directly as a standalone game.

If you're having trouble with runing the game itself, it might be because some prerequisites aren't installed on your system. Try making sure you have:

- The latest DirectX Runtime
- The latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables
- Up-to-date graphics drivers

Sorry, I don't understand your comment. Can you explain in more detail?

Wow, thanks alot! Really cool that you wrote about the project. Your support means a lot :)

Awesome! Glad the patch helped. Thanks for trying it out and for your earlier feedback, it really helped guide the fixes.

Thanks for the follow-up and for finishing the demo :) Glad it runs better on the RTX2080S. The enemies shooting through walls is definitely a bug - thanks for catching that. Your feedback is super helpful for improving the game. Appreciate you taking the time to play and report back!

I see, thanks for reporting this. I agree, I'll add them in the next so be people can adjust the settings which improve performance when needed.

Thanks alot for playing the demo. Sorry about the slow performance; I suspect it might be due to older hardware. Even though the game has a retro look, it uses UE5's dynamic lighting, which can be pretty demanding on older systems.

Thanks a lot for your kind words! I really wanted to capture Silent Hill's eerie beauty in 'Hill of Silence'. It was a blast to work on, even if it turned out quite brief. Your feedback means a lot – maybe there's more to explore in this AI-assisted Silent Hill universe in the future :)

Thanks for giving my game a try :) I will need to do some performance optimization after the jam results then. First time using UE5 and I I did not have time to get into performance optimization yet. But just off the top of my head based on your experience, I think lighting might be a big contributor.

Thanks for the feedback :) Did this jam alone and was about to give up near the end so I was really happy to push through and get to the finish line. Gonna build upon it a little more though and see where it goes.

Thanks a lot for the feedback :) And totally agree with your point regarding the introduction of game rules. Will do an update to fix the issue after the results of the jam are announced.
