Yea, that seems to be one of the recurring issues. The enemy is able to catch up towards the player before they're able to react, especially once they spawn.

I notice the issue of enemies being difficult for the player, they seem to rubberband towards the player that gives the illusion of the enemy "chasing" the player. I'll take note on that, as well as adding a bit of kickback once the player is damaged.
