Great game, I love the simplicity of it, just a grappling hook and a centipede.
Some feedback:
If possible a bit more consistent hook at grappling surfaces. Sometimes it bounces off surfaces it should latch on which makes it too inconsistent to trust in riskier plays which would be amazingly fun if you could. (still I love how you implement the physics to it very gg)
Maybe make the button that throws the hook separate from pulling or releasing so that you can control the length of the rope while the hook is still in the air. Example: You overshoot a tree root but you have to keep mouse pressed so that the rope doesnt disappear, rope keeps getting longer because you overshot the root and your hook is not attached to anything so your body hits the surface underneath the root or a wall nearby.
I would try something like:
LMB= throw the hook all the way out (or even be a hold to adjust force of throw),
Ctrl or Shift (while hook is not attached)= Hold rope length,
Ctrl or Shift (while hook is not attached) = Release rope length
When it attaches to something you have already implemented it perfectly :)
I would make it a different click or action to release the hook, releasing the mouse is too easy to do by mistake.
Thank you for making this game and for giving us the choice to play for free I really enjoy the artstyle the feeling of imminent doom while being chased by the centipede.
Im going to get my buddies to try it if I can :)
