So crypto right now is heavily, heavily associated with far right political movements now that the idealistic groups have been pushed out, and Pepe, while used in gaming spaces, is also a particular brand of nazi political symbol. Some of the ones this game is using are explicitly made by nazis for their works and haven't really entered the meme or gaming space. 

The combo of the two makes it far more suspicious than one alone.
