Hello, I have a couple of questions followed by a soft-lock situation I ran into.

1) Is your character meant to stay level 1?
2) If so how are you meant to become stronger and keep up with the game?
3) If what I show below is a soft-lock, what can I do differently to be able to progress in my next playthrough?

Context for the softlock: I have saved on the spot shown on the screenshot and I have some health potions and some wine but not much more than that. The skeleton enemies deal way too much damage for my healing to keep up and I can't exist the crypt.
