So, there are 3 growth stages but the bird only grows twices. Going from a chick to a fledgeling, thats when the scripted bonding events happen. Those are in white text. Once the bird is a fledgeling, those are replaced by the random events, which are in pink. Those are all special moments that happened between me and my bird. Then the bird facts, which are in green, kick in when the bird is fully grown.

In hindsight, I can see why thats confusing. I probably should have written events all the way to full growth for the bird, and started the bird as an egg to have longer story. Then just use the random ones for after those run out.

My original intent was actually to use the false sense of security like you mention and have your bird die, then get another and another up to day 100, then you die of old age. But it was WAY too sad. So the timeline for everything was designed around that.

I climbed sweet potato mountain and clipped into the ceiling, becoming eternally trapped. 10/10

Do you have any decoration ideas? I actually was working on that and ran out of ideas, I have a one of those lucky cat statues. Achievements is actually really good I didn't even think of that. I can just make achievements for all the random stuff I added while procrastinating on the actual gameplay.

I feel like I'm missing something. The game itself functions well and is very polished, but I just can't connect what's going on to any kind of story. I think if maybe every time you went through and archived subject_666 the recording got longer or more detail was added, and that slowly revealed the story through every iteration, that would be interesting. As it stands, I'm basically just looking at blips on a radar screen so it's more analog than horror. I also think having the achievements always there on screen really takes you out of the experience. I still like the idea though, if I had to rate it I'd say 3/5 as it stands.

I think its a good thing. You need some contrast or else you just get used to it.

So, I have what could be described as the bare minimum of a game loop. Do thing to get money, spend money to do thing better. But it's not engaging or rewarding. I know the general problem is that there is not enough stuff and no actual challenge. Could anyone help me think of more specific ways to make it desirable to play for 5-10 minutes?
