That's fair! It's similar frustration to the original Lost Vikings game that inspired this one.

I'll consider if there's a good way to get around that without breaking the core game design. I see the final level as a sort of "bad ending/good ending" scenario, but it's forcing players to get the good ending, which is an experience that could be improved.

Technically, they can travel as one at certain points if you can get the other two on top of the hogtied girl's box. But yeah, having to get all three of them to move separately was a crucial element of the original Lost Vikings, and I mostly kept it here.

As often occurs, sound effects got pushed to the end, and in this case, were pushed off the cliff to meet the deadline. I miss having them too.

Sorry for the frustrations! I'm probably going to upgrade the game in the future, so any suggestions would be appreciated!

(1 edit)

I was sticking with the basic control scheme of the Lost Vikings, but if I do an upgrade later, I'll include other control schemes so that players can more easily switch between characters.

Also, I need to check on that heart pickup thing, because that sounds like a bug I missed!

That's good feedback! I could certainly include a bot at the beginning of that level that falls off of a platform so that your less likely to miss that detail.

The final level is a big jump in difficulty... if I had more time, there would have been a few more levels leading up to that final puzzle, but this was also the project where I took some big leaps in properly learning Godot, so that lost me some time.

Thank you!

Thank you!

I'd be open to adding alternative button mappings (such as WASD for movement). Do you have any suggestions of what you'd prefer?

I also wish there were more levels. The plans were much bigger, but alas... game jam deadline caught up with me.

That's odd. Are you using a Number pad Enter key? What OS are you on?

Also, pressing Enter to go to the next room only works if you're actually at the door. (I'm not sure if that's the problem, but I figured I'd mention it.)

Incredible style in this game. I'm horrible at rhythm games, so I doubt I'll ever beat the final boss, but you have me hooked with the vibes of it. Your visual and musical choices go a long way.

This one's pretty solid! Simple, but with a good game loop, and enough variation in the ship rewards to make them interesting.

No, definitely not a dummy. The last level is a significant increase in difficulty (time was running short, and I wanted to give it at least a somewhat memorable finale).

I'm glad you liked the puzzles!

LOL, I'm glad you liked it. My plans for the narrative side of things were far more in-depth, but had to be abandoned to fit in time for the game jam. It is what it is.

Phenomenal mod. Amazing work. The new playable character is great, and the villain is a fun twist for the party.
