Yes, I've run this on Fedora 44 using Wayland but using Java 17 and not the system default of Java 25. Download Java 17 and run this:-
JAVA_HOME=~/Downloads/jdk-17.0.20+8 \
PATH="$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH" \
DISPLAY=:0 \
./multipaint
I've only tested as far as getting multipaint to run so there could still be issues, but, it does open this way.
