Heya, I just want to say that is absolutely adorable that youâre going to participate with your daughter. Hereâs a couple of tips I think will be helpful, as someone who did their first game jam not too long ago:
1. To-do-lists are quite helpful for keeping you in track, you can add deadlines for certain things, like âGet movement code done by Wednesdayâ as an example.
2. You can prepare by improving upon your skills like normally as you have a month before the jam begins, and maybe think about what type of game yâall are interested in making for this.
3. Keep the scope small, make sure youâre making something that can actually be done in the small amount of time.
4. Have fun! Donât beat yourself up if you donât manage to submit anything, or if you think what youâve submitted is bad. You still created something, and this is your first game jam! Take it easy, and remember this is also an opportunity for you to learn and develop your skills better for future jams that you and your daughter will no doubt take part in.
Sorry for the long reply, but I cannot wait to see you and your daughter has cooked up for the jam!
Iâve got some experience coding in Godot, as well as making 2d art (pixel art and traditional) and 3d art (blender and blockbench). I would love to team up with a composer, but I would also be glad to team up with Godot programmers, artists, writers, etc.
