yeah i was looking at that a little bit then had that same feeling of it may take too long to learn how it works

trying to get things to line up with animations using coroutines was super annoying but i finally got it to work, really happy that it didn't break everything

as time consuming as it is, i have found my favorite part of the project so far was when i made my toucans and their move emblems. it's really satisfying to see the game come to life from something i got to create

the other thing that helps with the variety for the loop is having sections where you actually take away some elements of the song, then bring them back in a few bars later. it can really help give some breathing room to the track and refresh the listener for the full loop when you bring it all back !

i would say if you can create more variety in the structure before bringing it in it can really help ! before bringing it in, i had kind of 2 sections that were pretty distinct and a little intro build up / outro fall off that made it feel less repetitive

Just spent quite a bit working on a song for the background music for my game, pretty happy with how it ended up. I might chop up the different sections and have them play based on what menu/phase of the game the player is in.

Something that's gonna be interesting to work on (i'm pretty close right now) is the auto-battling phase. I already got some logic for the battle resolution but I feel like handling the animations is gonna be a weird or different from what I am used to since it's all going to trigger off of one another rather than from player input. Hopefully it's not too bad (fingers crossed).

I am making something akin to Super Auto Pets, but instead of using stats for battling it's a Rock-Paper-Scissors like system. You get 3 toucans and each round you pick between Peck, Squawk, and Roost for each of the birds. Then, you battle that round and the order of the birds and what you choose determine the outcome. There will also be a special item you can pick at the beginning that both players can see, but you secretly choose which round you use it on. The game will maybe go for 5 rounds, first to 3 wins.
