Cool idea! Great job submitting a game in such a short timeframe, especially if you were considering quitting :) Sticking it out and pulling through is what game jams are all about and you should be proud of what you accomplished.
Just a life tip, sometimes less is more.
Trimming down the features and focusing on polishing what you have can be less stressful and lead to better quality overall.
Great Work!
Made it to level 10 :)
It would be awesome if there was a tutorial at the beginning to explain what all of the different upgrades and people do instead of giving it to the player all at once. Adding in some visuals to the plant to show off its growth would also be a nice touch (maybe the plant starts small and then grows bigger.). The artwork is great so would love to see more of it.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it! Fun experience and I could see it being easily expanded upon. Great work
Cool Game! Cave exploring definitely fits the theme and I love how you repeatedly warn the player to turn back but it is too enticing to keep going in. I got the car ending right away because I had a hunch that was the right thing to do lol.
When I got to the end, I was hoping that there was just something more to make it worth going in. Other similar games that tell you not do too something reward the player for doing the opposite ("Stanley Parable" and "There is no Game" for example). A little more detail there would have been the icing on the cake. Great work!
What a fantastic way of describing my game, thank you for taking the time to play it and reply!
The concept / gameplay may be a little unintuitive, but I really wanted to capture what it would feel like to stumble around completely blind and let the player's imagination run wild. From the description of your experience, I think that you perfectly picked up on what I was aiming for.
Cheers, you made my day :)
Only since you asked :)
I'll piggy back on what Cinetic said about visual feedback for my game. The vibes of your game are immaculate and I like the idea of growing the flowers to attack the spiders. Adding in some type of indicator to say how damaged the spiders are would make the flower damage seem more impactful. Adding in a way to change which flower you plant and giving them different levels of damage or abilities could be cool too. So yeah, just adding more "juice" to the combat.
Bonus tip from a noob.
Super simple tweak: Just in case it isn't something you know, you could mess around with the tiling dimensions on the ground texture to make it look less tiled.
