I was just sitting in the main menu for minutes just listening to the theme song, basking in the absolutely immaculate style and atmosphere before the game even started. And then the opening? Oooo, it was so hype as the camera slowly revealed the level. The music, the eclectic art that still somehow feels cohesive, along with the crunchy narration.
Basically, I've never found myself so immediately charmed by a game that I immediately realized I wasn't going to finish as soon as I touched the controls for just a few seconds. I absolutely see what the vision was here, and to be entirely fair, I'm just straight up not very good at these types of games, I haven't even gotten close to beating Benett Foddy's Getting Over It. But the steepness of the learning curve and the overall lack of control in the controls was just so overwhelming that I couldn't even make it out of the starting area before feeling like my brain was fried (like egg). Every single aspect of movement just feels so intentionally obtuse that the possibility of ever being able to fluently string the controls together.
The strangeness is there, the atmosphere is there, the movement, while completely inaccessible to me personally, seems interesting. The one coherent thought I could form in the chaos of struggling with the controls was "I wish I had a more reliable way of shortening/lengthening the arms." and just generally wishing there weren't so many different unreliable movement methods to juggle at the same time, but again, I'm very much out of my element with this. Based on the description, it seems like you've absolutely succeeded at your goal of making a difficult momentum based game. I wish I could've seen more of it, but the short part I *did* see left a very memorable impression, and I'm definitely recommending this to my more masochistic friends. For those who have the requisite neuroplasticity and persistence to get good at these controls this seems like it could be an absolute blast, as for me, I just wanted to leave a comment encouraging y'all to keep making cool stuff :>
