Really cool! Map texture could be improved, and the distant trees should be billboard for performance (many games use that, don't miss out on that!) and if you're gonna think about engine sounds make them in Fmod, it's really easy, I sound mod for Assetto Corsa and it's simple-ish, one tutorial and you got your own sound! But I recommend using multiple samples or steal engine sounds from the War Thunder sound repository (free to download on GitHub, it includes tank tracks low mid high speeds and real life recorded tank sounds with low mid high rpms), heres a sound mod demo of mine (pretty crappy I know but I'll work more on sound mods someday) https://imgur.com/gallery/astra-h-sound-mod-ac-EicoRD1

2 years later and... No other tank? Hmmm you said it'll take a while.. I mean... In the meantime if you could if you do add another tank will you add electric turret traverse sound? (I'm a tank nut and I'm obsessed with electric motor drive sounds) However the current T-34-76 in-game is only with a hand cranked turret which doesn't make up for it :(

On a side note, I've tried extracting the GoDot project and copied the 8 bit song in along with a new "Ziel Zerstort!" Crew voice when destroying a tank, however possibly during the extraction process important files weren't able to be extracted, and I had GoDot 4 instead of 3 which made things worse.. so uh yeah the game didn't work.
