for some reason I cannot purchase this game without signing in to paypal. with other games i can check out as guest, but with this one when after i choose checkout as guest and enter my payment info, the button says "continue and create account" or something instead of "continue"

you are likely to continue waiting and wishing. i just don't think that is the direction the game is headed good fellow. maybe in the meantime see if you can find a different game that suits your personal tastes.
