Thank you for your detailed feedback! I'm sorry that the respawn mechanic caused so many issues. Do you know if we're still allowed to upload updates for the jam?

Insanely good atmosphere, I love the Inscryption vibes of this game so much :D When I first saw the screenshots I immediately knew I'll have fun with this game :D I kinda expected at the end to start in an other dimension with my collected cookies as currency or something, that would be kinda sick.
Overall very cool, well done!
Simple and fun game, music is fire. I think you've done very well for your first jam, you definitely had a decent idea of what you're able to create with the time you're given, I couldn't find any bugs and I did manage to play for quite a while. The sound of eating those cookies kinda threw me off though. I really did not like to hear that entire sound every time I picked up a cookie. The first 1-2seconds of that sound are fine, but everything after that is too much :D
Congrats on your first jam! Well done :)
Really fun game, everything feels very responsive and good, well done! Felt really good to go through the streets and gather your small army that shoots down everything in sight. Overall, very cool game.
The first level though! That was rough as hell, felt to me personally like the hardest part of the game. I think enemies should have a delay of like 0.2s or something after sensing the player, before shooting. The way it is now, it's pretty hard to not get screwed over entirely, as soon as more than 1 enemy can see the player. Then again, this difficulty also made it really exciting and rewarding to get through the levels.
Really neat game! Insanely good level design, it felt really rewarding to properly use the double jump and dash mechanic. Only issue I had was when I first tried to get past the first few thorns for quite a few minutes. Only after I checked the comments, I saw that I should have played in full screen. Had a lot of fun when I finally played in full screen!
For your first jam and as a solo project, I think this is extremely impressive. You made the art all by yourself too? Congrats on rocking your first jam!
Insanely cool idea! Don't be too hard to yourself, you've created a perfect base to build up on. You said in the description that there are still some janky things, but honestly I didn't even notice them too much. The gameplay itself feels actually pretty polished imo. The only thing missing is what you've noticed yourself, the actual roguelike element. But as I said, your game is a perfect base to just build more roguelike elements on and create an amazing game. I would absolutely suggest you to keep working on this!
When I read through the tutorial I was like "hu why the heck does this sound like a horror game?" and sure as hell I got spooked lmao. Very cool but weird graphics too, I love the old-school console vibe :D Also as someone who really wants to get into procedural animation, the crab leg animation immediately caught my eye, very impressive!
I only wish the locations and orbs would be a little more visible when running around the map, I was constantly bunny hopping and barely saw any. Oh and also maybe some explanation for how to deal with those evil cube formations around the orbs, I didn't manage to get close enough to an orb when there were these formations that killed me. No clue what to do there.
Overall very cool game!
Really cute design! I really loved it. I think this game has tons of potential. I could imagine a similiar approach as in "A game about digging a hole" here, but with a semi-open world to explore instead. The photos you take give you money, money allows you to upgrade your camera or hiking gear, allowing you to explore new areas to take photos of "more difficult" animals which in return give you more money. I think that could really spice up this game.
The style is perfect as it is, there's nothing to change about it imo. The only problem I had with the gameplay was that the camera wasn't rotated exactly as the player's model rotation, felt a little off when switching the camera. But besides that tiny issue, very cool game, well done!
Really impressive that you've created all this in such a short time. Your idea behind the game itself is great too, I really like the idea. Unfortunately I couldn't finish the game because I couldn't explore the last tile(forest) for some reason. Also, with so many platformer elements, I think movement should be a little snappier, like when you change running direction, immediately change it and don't wait until the other direction's velocity has run out (this is kinda what it felt like) before you actually start running in the other direction. Could just be personal preference though, I'm not sure.
And I didn't really die when I ran out of HP? And I could spam bombs on end, even though my counter was 0.
Very cool idea, very impressive what you've created solo within 1 week (UI, Art, Animations, Pickup/Craft logic, music and so on). Unfortunate I encountered so many issues :(
Oh and that super mario backflip-jump is fire! Took me a while to realize this exists, but then had a lot of fun with it :D
I don't know about an alternative to google drive. But I also can't really see why your game has to be that big. Did you have starter content enabled? I think that might pack quite a lot into the packaged game. Our UE games for game jams have always been less than 1GB, most of the time around 600MB.
Hats off to your shading artist! I got inspired to learn shading myself by your game :D
Neat style! Combat felt pretty good too, but that spear guy is kinda strong lmao. I couldn't really make good use of the parry unfortunately, I bet it's easier if you're actually able to parry. I was also kinda confused at first about what to do, maybe some counter on the statue would be cool to show how many more enemies you've got to fight before the boss spawns. Maybe also some hit sounds, for the enemy and the player. I found a pretty cheesy way to get to and kill the boss, but it was a fun experience! Really well done for your first jam, congrats!
Insanely good visuals and music! Creates a really fitting atmosphere, well done!
Unfortunately I couldn't get the game to rly work :( I've seen your comments about the invisible ingredients before I played and thought I could handle it, but it's really hard. I managed to get 1 dish done (within ~4 restarts of the game) and for some reason I couldn't deliver it to the customer, it would always pop up back on the kitchen counter when I would press E on the customer with the dish in the hand. Maybe I missed some controls? I think a small tutorial or at least a controls screen would have been amazing. I also had quite some issues not being able to drop the item I currently held, especially a second plate in general.
And what is it about this cookie/biscuit that so many people want? Is there a recipe how to cook it? I can't find it.
Definitely well done for your first jam, but I think you could have focused on bug fixing a little more (assuming all those bugs are not me-bugs). The visuals and atmosphere are really amazing!
Well that was the wildest fever dream I ever had :D Also a lot of fun. I was very confused at first but at the end I couldn't get enough from exploring all the rooms. I've also never seen credits so well implemented in a game jam. Your materials/shading guy is WILD, I thought I was tripping the entire game already but then I reached the graphics room lmao. I seriously need to know how you managed to create all those visual effects! Do you have some tutorials that you could recommend?
I think you absolutely rocked it for your first game jam. This definitely deserves more attention, I loved it. But also, insanely spooky to download. Downloading from google drive feels very off for a jam. Then this weird start that made me feel like you're just trying to waste my time with this spooky application running. I'm glad I pushed through that initial feeling, it was absolutely worth it :D Well done!
Super chill game! Many games like these in game jams lack some combination options, but this different, this is really well done. Amazing music and style too, you created a really relaxing atmosphere, very cool :) I love to see how my potions affected the customers each day :D
The only "issue" that I had was that I would sometimes forget what my customer currently wants. If we had an option to look at the dialogue again, that would be perfect. But besides that, amazing game and especially for your first jam, very impressive! Congrats to you guys :)
Cool idea but really hard to understand at first. I didn't manage to fix the error message, I did mange to get kinda small on it, but couldn't really run around on it or anything, not sure what I should have done there. Some sort of mini-Tutorial would have been great I think.
For your first Jam, this is very good though, well done!
Pretty short but also polished game. Everything fits, the sounds are great, VFX is amazing and everything feels really alive, well done!
I was able to play through your game within like 30 seconds I think though :D I wish there was more like more maps, or some way for Ted to be able to stun the player by triggering traps or something. Very cool game though!
Really cool game, very impressive for your first game jam! How much experience do you guys have in Unreal Engine in general? Mind if I ask how your animation and collision works? Is that procedural animation on your player? I've never had my skeletal meshes respond that well to the environment, I'm really interested in this :D
Definitely well done, the physics are fun, dive mechanic is super fun, and the increasing difficulty really hits the spot. I'm impressed :D
Cool idea but I too ran way too soon out of batteries. I also got stuck when trying to leave the basement again.
You definitely got the horror atmosphere down though! I really enjoyed the setting. But there was something weird (not sure if intended) going on with the UI/"E"Buttons. They were kinda jumping around like crazy when moving the mouse.
Performance was pretty good too. Did you work with level streaming?
I really suggest adding more batteries and allowing the camera to run longer with one battery. Then this could be a real fire game! Well done!
I see a game made in Unreal Engine, I play it! Congrats on completing your first game jam! :)
I like the idea of your game, but it felt pretty clunky at many points. The dodge doesn't rly feel like a dodge because it kinda slows you down at the end, combat is kinda hard because of Z-Axis rotation in 90° and so on but you probably know that. I would suggest to try and make a smaller project with less mechanics for your next jam, so you have more time to focus on polishing.
Well done though! Your first jam is done :)
Huge map, very impressive! I love the art, the style gives me some starbound vibes while the map exploration kinda feels like Noita with this gigantic map. I'm only missing some sound and story/tutorial, I'm kinda confused about who actually is Ted and why we're invading the poor guy's privacy.
Well done though, cool game!
