it reminded me of the Cyan Worlds intro:

Thanks!  I agree with you, the sounds were a little arcade-y for what is meant to be a relaxing experience.

Thanks!  Happy it resonated with you!

Thanks!  Since you're interested... I used an array to track the roast level (color) of each marshmallow pixel.  And as you said, I only displayed a portion of that array to give the effect it is a rotating 3D object.

Thanks!  Glad you liked it

the music and atmosphere reminds me of "thomas was alone"

Neat!

that introduction sequence is 10/10

I wanted to stay alive long enough get hugged by The Thing, but I couldn't get logs back to the fire in time!  Maybe a skill issue tho

Charming game!

Awesome game!  I really like the cat character and visuals.  The Itch.io cover image is great too!

Only critique is I can cheese the game by standing in the corner of the screen doing nothing.  Not sure how to solve that.  You could make coins spawn around the map and that becomes the score directly?  So the only way to get a high score is to move.

agreed

I do like particles!

Since you asked for some constructive feedback... I recommend editing the background of your itch.io page to match the dark moody feel of your game.  Plus you can do it outside the 3 hour limit.  Even now I guess!

Cute style!
dumb question,.. how do I return to the campfire after walking into the forest?

It's like Angry Birds + Little Inferno.  Great concept and execution!

Cool game.  I agree, at first I thought the sword was meant to be a momentum-based attack.  I ended up holding LMB down while the creeps walked into it  xD

IMO, the rough-ness makes it more spooky.  Something about that alone feeling.

Neat concept.  This mini-game would fit well inside a WarioWare-style game.

Hello fellow marshmallow roaster!  I like the huge-ness of the mallow

woah -- I spawned 7 thousand bees!

oh timmy!

hello fellow Pico-8  person - fun game!

FYI, I just released a major update to my game, fish the most fish

Thanks!

I was just looking through your Pico8 games and found Lina: a fishy quest.  Funny how similar it is (in concept anyway)!  Fun game.

I'll definitely return to my game with those type of improvements.  Any unspoken rules about updating an itchio page after the game jam results are released?  Or should I preserve this page and make a separate "fish the most fish 2" with my improvements?

Awesome!  Makes me want to play a mouse cursor/click version of it - maybe I'll be able to land more sweet jump shots.

I had some amazing small talk with a spaceman.  -- Nice game!

The more I play SPACED OUT, I actually enjoy the screen resetting.  Keeps the player focused.  Only problem is when the player goes off the bottom of the screen mid-way and it resets faster than expected.  I wonder if the ship could bounce of the bottom edge to keep that screen alive the typical time?

I think both of our games would benefit from an audible 5s count down and a fun visual transition to the score screen.

Thanks!  I'm glad you liked the sfx because I created them in the final moments of the jam!

Thanks!  That's an extremely impressive score.  My best is only 850!

Good idea!  Nice that you let the player toggle colors before the gameplay starts.   Of course, it's very difficult to get a run going with my skillz.

Consider reducing the color options to a smaller set like R G B, and then add many more items that fit into each category.  That way the player could toggle to the color faster to keep up!

lol

Cute game!  Nice particle effects and dash animation.

I wish the difficulty increased over time, or some competing objective to keep the player engaged until they eventually game over.

blew up the world in 2 clicks, 10/10

Nice fast-paced adventure game.  And the art style is fitting.  This concept has a lot of potential.

My only critique:  I wish some screens (like the fight results and death screen) held for longer so the player can understand what is happening.  Also some sounds and particle effects would bring this game to life!

Cool concept.  Nicely done!

(1 edit)

Awesome.  Cool concept with room to grow.

I wish the gameplay was a little more polished - for example, more time to navigate one screen, strategize, and build some anticipation before moving to the next screen.

Everything else (titles, sounds, visuals) is extremely polished - so congrats!

charming little game.  Nice!
