How exactly does the training stuff work?

I just got ralts and I don't really understand what I'm progressing

I have played this games years ago and didnt know it was based on a Junji Ito story, just recently i started reading his stuff, and read the original story, super cool game, and i love the reference to his cat

I finished the Main Quest where i help Koko with studying, at the end I chose to kiss her, i also missed the tea ceremony on the same day, since that happened i couldnt really interact with her because she was upset.

I would like to know if its because of the Mainquest and Story relevant, or because of the tea, and what to do against it
