There is a horror movie named the babadook in which there is a spooky pop-up book. This was our main inspiration so shmabadook is just a joke lol

I forgot my mouse at home like a dummy and played this on a track pad. Would not recommend haha There's some little detail I like a lot. The ghosts spawning in random objects, the shaking of each object to show ghost locations, the ghosts scrambling when hit instead of mindlessly tracking the player. Very well done! I like the camera movement to each room but something felt weird with the aiming. I think it was the mouse position changing or something when the camera moved.

Lol schmabadook... seems so familiar.......Thanks so much for playing! fun fact, the stairs are on the same script used for the popup and born of waaaay too long going "I wonder what would happen..." Hours later, presto. Moving staircase! lol

Thanks so much for playing and leaving your kind comment. We were definitely aiming for a popup book feel so I'm glad it came across that way! With more time I would love to do more popup things to really lean into it.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a long and kind review! If you panicked and not sure you did it right, then we did our job well lol When you went out the back door and froze, it should've triggered the winning screen. So you didn't freeze and miss anything else. But thanks for the heads up! now to figure out why it froze.......

Man I am impressed how well balanced this is given the short time you had to create and balance it! The gameplay loop is super addictive and I played until I got all the cores. There was enough variety in upgrades and asteroid type that it didn't get stale. If there was more upgrades and more asteroids, I probably would have kept playing lol

Thanks so much for playing and leaving us some kind comments!

The art is incredible! I wish there was some kind of warning or sign that the game continues after the credits. The first time, I assumed it was over so I left. When I noticed your screenshots showed more, I went back again and played the rest of it lol

Man this was so cute. fun to play and well put together. I like that you can break stuff lol My only critique is I don't like the ladder platforming. especially when you stick to the walls. Feels a little awkward. Something I'm sure you could polish out if you had more than a week! lol I also had a weird audio issue where I had no music in the right house until I found the lever. Nice touch adding your own kitty in there lol

This is a very fun gameplay loop! I wish it were harder or there was an objective. Something. I had a lot of fun but Eventually I just stopped because it didn't seem I would ever fail of natural causes! lol regardless, I still played for a shockingly long time haha High score - 48

I like the environment and vibe. Very well executed! I wish Mr spooky was more of a threat. He is spooky but since he walks slower than me and I can easily see him, it's easy to walk away. near the end when the  lights got dark, he was much closer when I finally saw him, so I liked it better! He also only appeared a very few amount of times so I wish he was around more.  The world also felt pretty big for how slow I moved. A higher move speed or smaller world would have felt better to me.

Thank you! I'm not sure the bridge you mean. If it was the one inside, maybe you grabbed the document from the ground before finding the  path? Another commenter said they did that lol

I love the falling and death sound effect lol It was really clever and well executed. I wish the large room full of doors had slightly less doors. It started to feel a little tedious after doing it I think 3 times in 1 run.

anyone on the dev team play digimon? The idea of glitches being something just chillin in the software trying to have a good time is very digimon to me lol The art was really well done! I love the goggles needing to be on/off to see different things and solve problems. It's a nice trick of perspective. Good Job!

I see in your description that you made almost everything in game. Nice work! That is a lot of stuff for 1 person to create in that time span. I am also a lover of funky perspectives and tricks so I like what you were doing with the light!

thank you so much! It really was just a try it and see what it looks like situation and we loved it so much that it became the whole game haha

Thank so much for the kind words! Our artist went crazy on this one lol

Thank you for the kind words! We really appreciate it. It was definitely not intentional to reach that from the floor lol So, thanks for the heads up!

Thank you for the kind words and feedback 😁

Thanks!! The flashlight is tied to cursor location so it goes a little bananas when moving around 🤣

Thanks so much! We hope we can flesh it out more too lol  The dash is definitely jarring and a little funky to use so I don't think you'll be alone in that lol

Thanks so much! We appreciate the compliments and the feedback 🙏😁

Aaaaaaahhhh. Thanks! I'll take your word that it's great and try to find the other version

I'm with terminal lol I'm not sure if it's a skill issue but all I see are build files. no exe

I second stick figure. I can't play it with just the exe :( load the whole shebang.

glad to know I found them all. Sad to know there's no more to find :( haha

This cracked me up a lot. The voice acting really sold it for me and I got all endings just to hear more of the stupid funny dialogue lol

Everything else in game is really nice too! good art, good music, good vibes. Well done to everyone.

I look forward to playing this character in my next DND campaign lol

Thanks so much!

I agree. very quiet lol as we are playing other games we are going "damn. We really needed to commit some time to sound." haha

We leaned heavily into the visual vibes so we are glad to hear they didn't disappoint!

I loooove the visuals! It's like I'm playing on a CRT and I dig it. I also just love the visuals and vibe overall. Very spooky and mysterious. I really wanna know more!

the idea is really cool! I liked having to find out what time things were going to happen and plan my route. The "tutorial" is really well implemented. I like that there's no text block necessary. NPC's give you the info.  Very good. **chef's kiss**

I also appreciate small details like: stepping into a wall. I can see triggers npc movement but does not waste any of my time.

I'm curious if I found all the bodies and solved it correctly. I found 3 bodies and had enough pictures left over to just spam and make enough money to leave. Was there more and I accidentally cheated and missed part of the puzzle? lol

Same! So many grand ideas and so little time.. haha

I feel that! We also had a lot of firsts that I would modify if I could do it again haha

The art is crazy good! Good job. For the amount of time you had to make this I am super impressed with the polish of the game overall. I really wish it had sound. Some nice cozy music to really get me in the zone lol

Thanks! We made all art and animation ourselves (could ya tell? lol) and this was our first time doing that. So we appreciate the compliment a lot! :D

Thanks for the tip! the web version was suuuper last minute so everything was dedicated to desktop/download. Hindsight.... lol (edit) There is indeed a button there to allow it. thank you very much!

Right! Fun to play but I wanted so badly for it to be more fast and more chaotic. Super hot was almost exactly what I had in mind.

I had a lot of fun playing this! Bravo!

I only see your name as a Dev, if there was anyone else, good job to you too.

I really like the swap place mechanic. it made it a lot of fun to play. Especially with limited ammo I found myself using that mechanic as much as possible to save ammo.

The design reminds me a lot of N64 007 golden eye. It looks like the library level and actually had me clicking walls to see if I could open a secret lol. I didn't find one :(

The enemy health is so large and takes so many shots to kill, I wondered if it was glitching and he just wasn't going to die! Now that I've played the game, the health amount seems ok but a health bar for the enemies may have helped me confirm that shots are landing and doing something.

speaking of health bars. This game with the slow moving bullets and this swap ability. I think I would have had even more fun than I did if there were more enemies and less enemy health. lots of chaos and bullets spraying everywhere! more like a 3d bullet hell.

I found the enemies could push me into walls and I would get stuck. There may be other scenarios where this could happen but that is the only thing I found that could get me stuck in the walls. unfortunately the only way I found out was to reset.

I only got to use 1 upgrade :( I got one on the first death. Every other time I did not get enough kills to earn a new upgrade and then I won the game before dying again lol I'm not sure of a good solution to that. If you wanted people to be able to try more, maybe the exit at the end could just send you back to the angels and restart the level.

I would also add a web version if you can. Much easier for people to try if they don't have to download first.

overall, tons of fun! I would have kept playing for sure if I hadn't run out of game haha

Thanks for the kind words and feedback! We struggled endlessly to tidy up the movement. Alas, movement mechanics are hard, and time limits are never long enough. 😂
