I was eagerly awaiting week 3 ever since I first finished week 2, and this absolutely did not disappoint! The rivalry between the level 3 miniboss and the player was especially creative and the new customers that you would slowly affect were just as enjoyable! I'll gladly support this (very cheap) game when its fully released knowing it will be this high quality!
I'm curious how you plan to implement new interactions and content for the upcoming weeks knowing that there is no more shelf space for potions. Will new interactions between customers be reliant on items that you obtain on the right-hand shelf, or will there be a new mechanic introduced for weeks four and five to circumvent this? This is if you even plan to have new interactions between customers to begin with, which I wouldn't blame you for not including given how much there already is! One thing that comes to mind is that a few customers seem to have enchanted weapons that don't already have a counter or seem to affect them in different ways. (IE an electric bow or a strange axe.) Maybe that could justify a new interaction or two?
My only complaint is that being titled "Tall Terror" is definitely misleading, and led to me thinking her potion was bugged until I finally tried NOT giving her the shortstack potion haha! Maybe a name change to better reflect how she's not supposed to be given that specific potion unless stated otherwise would prove helpful?
Again, this game is phenomenal and I hope that the recent censorship laws that have been going around don't affect you and your game, though I have a feeling everything is going to work out!

That sounds perfect! Keeping the gold a player incentive instead of  a required score (excluding of course losing if you bankrupt) sounds like the best choice, as on further consideration the openness it allows the player is one of the reasons I've liked this demo so greatly!
Having the gold rewarded be scaled to potion complexity could lead to players restarting until they can get the most complex potions for each traveler anyways, so it's probably better to leave that out haha.

I don't often comment on games but this looks and plays phenomenal so far!
The gameplay loop is very engaging and the ability to quickly restart a day for a perfect score is a welcome touch that I hope stays in the game to some capacity.
The various potion effects are each great and play into each other seamlessly, and I can't wait to see what else is added! Not to mention thee curses and the ways you can cure them are a fun side-puzzle that makes the game even more enjoyable!
My only critiques are with the way gold is handled. Firstly, I feel as though it should be able to do something, but maybe being nothing but a high score is better in the long run. Secondly, it feels like the gold rewarded should scale in some way, be it more gold for the more effects that are combined or even long strings of successful orders without fail can give some kind of bonus!
No matter that small point, the rest of the game is incredibly enjoyable and for a demo it's especially full of content!
I'll definitely be staying tuned for whatever updates are made, as I'm sure they're going to be great!

Thank you for responding so surprisingly quickly! Please don't worry about adding a thing extra since it's already a wonderful game as is! I'm sorry that the file size seems to be an issue, and I hope you may figure it out sometime soon!

It's encouraging to know a guide will eventually exist, as goodness it's certainly been a long road attempting to write one myself! I'm trying to use a branching path format for each day in an art program, but since it doesn't allow me to type I have to draw each individual word by hand! Knowing there will eventually be an official one is a relief as I think I can now take a break from worrying about it myself!

I wish you luck with development once again and take as much time as you need! Thank you again for your time!

Hi again! You likely don't remember me but I made a comment here quite a while ago, an entire year to be exact! Seeing that the game is nearing completion, and is absolutely amazing at well! I was wondering if the idea of a 'New Game +' was still even possible or something you wanted to do.

I've heard of newer projects you've been working on including a soft (hehe) sequel to Soft Fantasies! I don't know if this took the place of your desire to continue adding to this game, but I would hope that it's still a possibility once it's fully completed! I also don't know if this was already discussed on your Patreon as I unfortunately don't have access to it, so my comment might just be redundant hehe!

If you don't decide to implement the NG+, will there eventually be a guide to the game showcasing the different routes or endings to get? I (and hopefully others) would definitely find it helpful as it's difficult seeing which decisions will affect the game down the road, like humoring Legan on dieting, or spending your time with Ryan! I still don't even know if winning the Sumo tournament does anything since I didn't see any immediate affects.

No matter what you decide to do though, I also wanted to share my gratitude for making a great game that has such lovely writing and characters! you're doing phenomenally and I cannot wait to see what the next update has to bring!

Thank you for your time!

(1 edit)

I understand fully, there's no need to apologize about a necessary lack of detail when making a rough draft for the game. I apologize if I came across as rude, I was just making an observation on the players part. I wish you good luck with development, there's a lot of potential!

I feel bad for only pointing out a small nitpick so I wanted to give a genuine compliment. I really like the writing style! It's self awareness doesn't feel too heavy handed and it's dialogue feels quite realistic and charming when compared to most. The art that does exist is also very nice and I for one am eagerly anticipating everyone else we'll be seeing throughout our adventure.

I can certainly see the potential, the art style is very charming. though I will admit getting teased with "Shinigami_Belly Not Found" isn't the best first impression.
I look forward towards the updates this has in store.

Oh my, I never experienced that thankfully, but I can certainly see why it was patched. No need to apologize though, I shouldn't be the one to dictate how the game works. Good on you for fixing such a potentially catastrophic bug, hopefully it could work out as a feature some day but that's not my call.  I greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond and wish you luck with further development!

Hey, I made an account to discuss this because I thought it was interesting. In the previous version I played (v0.2.8) there was a glitch (?) that I rather liked, where when creating a new save file, the friendship levels from the previous save would transfer over and even stack with the new points gained from the new save!

This allowed the player to achieve otherwise impossible friendship levels with people, i.e. having a high weight and high friendship with Shawn or maintaining high friendships with Ryan and Pi. This acted almost like a New Game+ of sorts when playing, allowing the player to experiment with alternate routes without having to sacrifice their previously earned friendship levels due to the quite small amount of save slots.

I know it may not be your intention when designing this kind of game, but I (and hopefully others) would like for this to be implemented into the game as a proper feature! There's already a "reset global data" button in the settings, maybe this could work to reset your friendships as well. Perhaps you could even lock the feature behind needing to complete the game or getting a certain ending to balance it out.

Anyways, I know it may not be likely that you so much as even see this message, and I can certainly still enjoy the game without this being implemented as a feature, but seeing how fun it was to have this glitch (?) be in the game makes me believe that it would actually work out quite well.

Great game, hope development goes well!
