Is there anyway to disable the autosaves or do something about the save time? Every update to the journal or pass of the night can cause a 15+ second pause.
Save data for most games PC games is stored in some hidden folder on your PC. Means if you download a new version of the game you don't have to worry about moving your saves.
Personally I used wine to play the whole game but In my experience all you need to do is make sure the file is executable and open a terminal session in the root folder of the game and run sh nameofthegame.sh
