Here is the video presentation of Ley Nesta. Our magician, specialized in area damage, completes the team of our future playable demo!

In search for respect, Ley Nesta was looking to join the Circle of the Five to be remembered as one of the greatest elementalists. Even though his years of studies made it clear that he had a gift for magic, he was far too undisciplined to succeed in this art.

That is why, in order to fulfil his ambitions, he “borrowed” an artefact he had come across during his studies. But as soon as the young arcanist set his hand on it, a deep dark voice began to echo in his head. This should certainly have explained why the spell book was sealed, as this cursed artefact would slowly submit its carrier to its will. But through this act, Ley did obtain the power he was after—well, for at least a short period. He was found dead a few weeks later, after tripping clumsily as he was walking close to the edge of the city walls

Ley Nesta (789 – 818)

Here is an excerpt from Friedrich F.'s diary about the threats that led to the end of the world.

Report #28: Yhot-Tsogoh... that is the name heard in whispers in the mind of those who get too close to these tentacular creatures. First sighted in 1403, they slowly started to creep across the Western continent. Overlooked, the corruption spread until the day when Yhot-Tsogoh's brood was recognised as a serious threat. But by then, it was already too late and all kingdoms started to fall one after the other.

A number of profiles have been established on these creatures.

Minions: fragile, they compensate their weakness by their numbers.
Titans: colossi that are used to bring down fortifications or the lines of defense of cities.
Whisperers: although they cannot fight directly, they are capable of manipulating the mind.
Synapses: never alone, synapses act as relay points to communicate to the brood the orders of their master.
Locusts: formidable hunters capable of launching themselves onto their prey before chopping it into pieces.

With fiery hair and an oversized blade, here comes Elisen, our Valkyrie. Her job is to deal maximum damage – and she does that pretty well, especially when her health is running low!

Elisen was born in 585 among a clan of nomadic warriors. After years of wandering, these northern barbarians came to settle in the mountains of Jormund, then under the rule of the Ifrit Ouros.
Following years of pointless infighting, the clans then attempted to unite to conquer the region. It is during this final battle that Elisen dealt the final blow to the powerful Djinn, thus becoming a legend among her peers. This victory marked the unification of the clans and the beginning of an era of prosperity for a people that, decades later, came to be known as the Elisians.

This week will cast some light on one of the central pillar of our gameplay: the Chronowheel.

The Chronowheel is the artefact allowing our heroes to travel through time. It is also a way for us to play with some of the key features of modern Roguelikes such as randomness and a gradual learning curve. Concretely, the Chronowheel adds three news game mechanics to each level. We call these “time paradoxes”.

The Chronowheel

Time paradoxes can be divided between three categories: bonuses, penalties and specials. Like a wheel of fortune, each of the three hands of the Chronowheel will select a paradox on its dial. The combination of these three paradoxes will then partly define the level you will have to run through. To this day, we count over 350 possible combinations.

Here are some examples of these time paradoxes:

Mirror: reverse the direction of the run.

Plague: creatures and heroes begin all combats with a poisoned condition.

Murphy’s Law: triggering a trap increases the loss of Chronium caused by next traps (Chronium is as essential a resource as health points).

Transdistortional teleportation: triggering traps will give a chance that a hero may be replaced by another.

Echo of the past: the first hero to die is simply sent back to the present.

Good fortune: creatures and heroes have increased critical chances.

Temporal contamination: a loss or gain of Chronium affects all adjacent heroes.

There are of course many more of these paradoxes, but they depend on game mechanics that we have yet to present: runes, the combat system, the skill tree in your base, etc. But we’ll come back to that later!

After a tank, here is our second hero presentation, and this time of a support: Hellmut, the bloodthirsty therapist. His speciality? To absorb the vital energy of his opponents to redistribute it to his allies.

In the past, there was a clan called the Children of the Damned. Known for their ability to manipulate their own blood, Hellmut was one of their most promising priests. But one night, his clan was attacked by a giant bloody cyclops. It was a real bloodbath and the last time we ever heard about the Children of the Damned.

The body of Hellmut was never found after that.

Don't hesitate to comment on the design or background of our characters !

Regularly, we will present you the heroes who will join your space-travelling gang. To kick off this series of videos, let us introduce Albrecht: a soldier who will take to the frontline to protect his teammates and reduce the offensive capacities of his opponents.

Born in 877, Albrecht grew up in the Empire of Krussia. Gaining rank within the army, he was awarded the honorary title of Lord for his dedication and expertise. Proud of his acquired nobility, Albrecht van de Kuyt continued to shine for his military feats until the year 938 when an heroic last ditch effort to lead his men to victory cost him his life. A Mustache Militia was then set up to honour his memory and perpetuate his legacy through the generations.

We hope that you will enjoy these videos! Don’t hesitate to give us feedback, or to send us your questions regarding this gloriously mustached hero.
