And I will ABSOLUTELY buy the sequel then if that's the case! I still had fun playing through it and got my money's worth. As said I really like the mechanic of having to avoid enemies to get the knife, and I love the music, it fits the game perfectly. But for me cyborg force is king. it's BRUTALLY difficult and I haven't been able to finish it on one credit yet! Great game. Cheers bud.

Sorry but I am not sure what that has to do with power ups? A bonus stage just means adding length. As said it's a good game and I did realise already about chests but I didn't realise about bonus stage admittedly, but what I was clearly saying was the lack of weapon power ups and character abilities. Double jump. Faster movement. Knife with way more range and so on (like in bubble bobble when you get power up to blow faster bubbles or blow bubbles further, to use an analogy). So on.

I love single screen arcade games like this and bubble bobble. In fact, besides run and gun, they are probably my second favourite type of game.

This looks and sounds GREAT and controls beautifully. However, as a gaming veteran I have to be honest about the stuff I don't agree with. I quit the game after about 20 minutes as there were just no weapon power ups and I genuinely got bored. I am not upset I bought it as I am glad to support an indie dev and always WILL support indie devs, but I would hope you'd appreciate my honest opinion rather than be dishonest. It IS fun, don't get me wrong, and the music is so appropriate, and I think the mechanic of starting weapon less and having to get the knife first in each level was a really clever take I haven't seen before, as it adds to the skill required.

HOWEVER - where are the speed ups, or sword power ups for say more range, or different weapon pickups? For me it's a big deal to lack that stuff and just be the same over and over again, but that's of course just my opinion.

Cheers

Hi it doesn't really have anything to do with 8bit do controller, for example I can't assign the right nor left trigger on my xbox one controller either as I tried that last night. I was just using the M30 example because it's got 6 face buttons therefore certain buttons are seen by the OS as triggers. The game just doesn't see the left and right triggers as buttons, which happens with a few older games actually but I haven't seen it in a new one for a while. That's entirely on you and your x input implementation, but as said I can fix it in steam by 1) Importing them as non steam games 2) Assigning the trigger I want to the function you have programmed.

PS won't watch any videos with spoilers as I want to discover all the game myself. It's a very brutal game but lots of fun and I already am tactical with weapons, i.e. I save certain ones for when I actually need them and make sure I am on the one I want replaced if there's a pick up. I have been gaming forever LOL, trust me on that.

Wow this is fantastic! CRT shader on PC version really nice and usable too which is rare for these retro games. I actually have it enabled by choice.

Very low input lag, great music, great parallax scrolling, I love how we have remapping and also able to set balance between SFX and Music (I chose 90 music, 80 SFX).

My favourite type of game and I am always wanting to find new ones I haven't played.

The only thing I am disappointed about is that the native x input support is not seeing triggers, and the 8bitDo M30 displays to the OS as follows:

C button = RT, so can't use it

Right bumper  = LT, so can't use it.

I want to assign Right Bumper to aim lock and A to fire, B to jump and C for grenade. So I settled on Left bumper for aim lock (LB on the M30 is actually seen as LB) and X for grenades which is the button on top of the A. Not ideal but workable, but when I get back home I think I will prefer to play this one with my normal X box controller, which is a little unfortunate, as in my opinion the M30 has the best dpad in the world of any controller I have ever used. And I started gaming in Atari 2600 then C64 days.

I may be able to work around it by importing it into Steam as a non Steam title and enabling controller support but I'll buy the puzzle game then try that then import them later. Just a thought if you would like to expand the x input support to see the triggers to make it easy for people like me who like to use Playnite as their launcher for non Steam titles.

Cheers and congrats on a wonderful game.

Peace.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I will buy both games but can't afford more than that now, sorry, been dealing with major health issues and that's even why my response is so delayed as I only just saw your reply as have been in hospital yet again. Gaming passes the time when bed bound so very happy to support 16 bit games as they are my favourite. Sounds great, I use the 8bitDO M30 controller which should be perfect for these. Cheers!

Hi, not sure whether to buy the neogeo version of this and captain barrel to use in FB Neo/Retroarch or buy the official PC versions. I use a PC gaming laptop and prefer PC versions when possible, but does the PC version have difficulty selection, X Input support etc? TIA! please don't increase the price till you've replied and given me a few hours to buy LOL.
