Ok, so as a librarian, I just had to try this game.
Being new to the wonderful world of solo RPG, the floatiness of the rules threw me a bit off balance at first, but I quickly “homebrewed” some very light rules for when to roll on which tables to create rooms and documents and my two games (so far) were a delight.
The subtle mix of whimsy and more grounded worldbuilding is evocative enough without corralling you into one single type of vision (my first games were very fantasy coded; next I’ll try a more sci-fi approach). I immediately felt right at home wandering those infinite hallways and journaling my trips came very naturally.
I have now made it my mission to introduce this game to my colleagues and I’ll definitely purchase the french version to add to our real life public library’s collection!
Speaking of which, I laughed with genuine glee upon seeing the MARC file being packed in the download folder (french libraries work with UNIMARC, which is a bit different, but still)!
The only sad thing is, the French physical version of the game is a simple zine style paperback and the original version (in all its custom folder/case and three separate booklets glory) is absolutely unavailable (and god knows I tried asking retailers)…
And this fills my heart with great despair.
Otherwise, the game is a blast, tho !
