Walkthrough:
In order to escape from the basement you must release the orb and quickly open the hatch, however in order to open the hatch you need the keys for the lock. You can't shoot the lock, sorry.
The keys are over the poster on the other room, you can't reach them so you must shoot them with the ppk - the pistol can be found in the backroom on the floor.
Once you shoot the key it will fall, pick it up - now you can properly escape. Use the drill on the tube, then turn over and quickly and try to press E near the hatch once the "escape" message appears.
You will spawn in the "ducts".
The maze is quite simple, you'll know you are reaching the end when you find the white orb / light. There are several dead-ends. Don't let the orb get you or it will restart the level.
The orb can be avoided, you can actually pass alongside if you are quick enough (you can run with shift while you have stamina).
After you complete the maze you appear in a similar room to the basement, without the tube. A cry for help can be seen written on the wall, as you approach it this will fire up the final message.
"the game isn't over it hast just begun".
-End of the demo-
Easter eggs:
- You can "have fun" with the blue tube at the back of the room, you instantly die and the level resets though.
- There are two boxes of "jimmy's droppings" (I thought those were rat droppings, not ladybugs!)
- Eventually the player will burp and fart (every 30 seconds on average)
- Several jump-scare sounds are peppered throughout the levels, nothing special
- A poster can be seen near the key by the wall that reads "I want toe" ("I want toe believe" made more sense, but it was already made)
Questions:
- Why release the orb?
Why not, don't you want to know what's out there? - How long did it take you to make this mini game?
Around 20 hours in total of real work-time, working alone - Do you plan to continue the series?
Probably depends whether anyone is interested or not. - Why is it so short?
In part because of the 1GB limit on itch.io and also due to time constraints - Is it free?
Yes you can download it for free or opt-in to purchase it. - Is the real James alive, do you play as James?
Yes you are James, you are presumably alive as far as we know. - Explain the ending?
It may be what you're seeing but it may not be real... A second chapter would explain this. - Do you believe in UFOs?
I want to believe. Or as the poster in the game puts it: I want toe. - What inspired you to make this game?
James and his strange finding. @RealJamesCylinder
