Cool!!

Thanks for doing this; that was a REALLY good idea!!!!!

Okay...

To get rid of him permanently you can delete the Clippy folder you downloaded.

To make him disappear for a little bit click on him and do the "close" keyboard shortcut (alt+F4 or CMD+Q)...

I hope this helps???

Thanks! :)

STATUS UPDATE!!!!!!

https://bannanaboy.itch.io/clippy-desktop/devlog/1011560/school-has-started

I'm remaking the game; hold on!!!!!

Cool game! I like how it gets faster and faster! I also really like the cover art! Nice making a good title image instead of doing just a screenshot or stock image.

What I liked:

  1. I really like the game mechanics! Great job on this!
  2. I like how you added a large variety of attacks that could happen. I also really like how you can press number keys to make specific attacks happen.
  3. Really good job on the art! Especially the snowman! It looks like you drew it with a mouse or touchpad. Good job; I think it looks really good, especially for using that!
  4. I really like the snowfall animation! It really adds to the theme of the game.
  5. I like the dying snowman in the background.

Improvements:

  1. The red warning arrows for the attacks turns solid red with no transparency when you die; was this intended? It might be better if they all disappeared when you died.
  2. A restart button would be really nice. :)

I have a question: could you make transition animations for when you get hurt? Or make you blink red a few times when you get hurt? I think it'd look a lot cooler if you did.

Well, great job on this! It looks like you put some work into it! Have fun making other games, and hopefully you don't run into too many bugs or issues!

Cool, I'm downloading it..

Yayyy! Thanks! CHEERS FOR CLIPPPPYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So... good job on this game! I have a few thoughts:

  1. Nice animations! I really like the death animation, and how you respawn. The foreground/background switch is kind of abrupt -- could you made it fade into the background over a short interval of time? I think it'd really improve the game.
  2. Transitioning between stages isn't super smooth. It might be better if you made you start at the same height as the last level on the left. Maybe you could add a transition animation between levels?
    1. Even if you don't do those two, you should at least make it so you start on the floor -- it'd be more smooth...
  3. I like the humor in the game -- funny messages!
  4. Could you add sound effects? I think it'd improve the game, too...

You should add more content and make it a full game! Good luck coding!

I think I'll keep it simple -- I don't think I'll use AI in this.

I want it to be more of a simple assistant, not an AI. Well... a simple chat guy. Maybe more nastolgic?

Hey, guys!

I've made a foundation for the Clippy desktop, but I'm having trouble cutting the spritesheet for the animations. It'll take a bit.

Hehe :)

Yep! It'll be fun working on it...

Hey guys! Check out the most recent devlog!

SUMMER PLANS.png

https://bannanaboy.itch.io/clippy-desktop/devlog/934673/summer-plan

Actually, come to think of it, it is the only devlog...

I love that idea!!!

I was thinking of doing things like that myself, but I wasn't sure if the people's wanted it to be a practical Clippy or funny Clippy. So I'll go the funny route!!!

YESSS thanks for asking that!!!

I'm going to post a devlog of all the updates I plan to do over the summer.

Thanks for commenting!

It's the time you need to wait, sorry.

Every frame (0.1 sec), it'll do a random number from 1-the odds_of_question variable, and if it's 1, Clippy will ask you a "question". Yay! I'll make this more clear in a bit...

By the way, over summer break I'll do a large update!

So, hold on tight! I'm going to release a devlog or something with the exact details... :)

Make him a chat bot??? That's an idea...

Hmmm.... maybe. I... huh. I can't use ai unfortunately to do a chat bot, because that costs money for me to use a ChatGPT API, but I could maybe make him have pregenerated responses and get keywords from your text??? Maybe???

I can't really make it an app since it's coded in Python. :(

Hey, guys! I think it'd be a great idea for me to re-code Clippy, in more readable code!

I could make one file for the Clippy, with the ability to say stuff, and ask you things, and able to animate, and another to do all the processing! :)

Oof, uh...

OK, so: it probably is returning an error because I didn't add "./" before the path. Try Ctrl+F (finding) this: "path =", then adding "./" before the path variable.

Also, I forgot to change this: go into ./data/configure/config.json, and change the transparent_background (first option) to true. If it's false, Clippy will have a black background.

Sure! :)

Uh... I forgot the command to export...

I can export the source code again, but the windows export will have to wait a day or 2.

Uh huh! You too!

All right! I just have to export it again...

Oh, OK... uh...

Click on each Clippy you want to kill and press "Alt+F4" (Windows) OR "Command+Q" (Mac).

Hey, you know what? I'm going to make a button that will close Clippy in the triple-click menu right now! :)

I'll have to re-export, though... It'll be fine. :)

Hi, guys!

I haven't gotten started on the new animations for Clippy yet; sorry about that!

If you want to do it, then just replace the .gif files in the data folder, I think, with different animations. Make sure they have a black background, though!!

Thanks for commenting on my project here! :)

School has also started back up, so... I don't have much time for working on Clippy projects. :(

Have a good day guys! :)

Thanks!

Yeah! :)

CLIPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :))))))

It's great that you like Clippy too!!! :)))

hehe :)

I could add more animations over break...

I was thinking of making you be able to play Tic-Tac-Toe with Clippy. I don't know if I'll get to that, but it was an idea I had a little while ago.

I don't know... I think you should try uninstall and reinstall?

First, though -- can you send me your config file? I want to see what you did.

Thanks for the comment! :)

:)

Yeah! :))

Sure!

Thanks for the comment again! :)

At November 17th! :)

Oh, OK...

What do you mean? I guess it's a little big; but I need the extra room to display the search box for triple-click and for things he asks you randomly.

Thanks for the comment! :)

Oh!

Once I saw someone run over a traffic cone, but it didn't make them spin out. They weren't going on a highway either, though...

Isn't that what the yellow boxes with rings in them are?

They could also be tires...

ok...

I think I hit one of the doughnuts.

22.6 seconds! :)

I like the effect when you die! :)

It's funny.

I can't reset after I crash! :(

Aww, I hit the side of the road... :(

hehe

Thanks! :)

Yeah! I like Clippy.

Thanks!

Sorry that I didn't get to your game! :(

Wow, thanks!! I never expected to get an actual YouTuber to stream my game!!

I guess I made it a little confusing for the goal of the different levels. I guess that's OK.

I'm a fan of Clippy, too! :)

I made another thing, "Clippy Desktop," that you can make Clippy be on your desktop. He isn't actually helpful; he's mostly there for entertainment.

Thanks again for taking the time to play my game! Especially the video!! :))
