Hey guys! Wow, I probably should've asked this waaay earlier, but just to be sure:

Is this a jam for Deltarune fangames or simply "Deltarune-inspired" games? And does this mean that we can't use preexisting Deltarume assets according to the plagiarism rule, or if we can use Deltarune characters/concepts, we would have to make them ourselves? I have a feeling I'm overthinking it but I'd like to make sure, honestly.

I'm not sure if I'll get to finish mine on time. Since there's only three weeks left for the jam I'll probably limit my project to one battle (but I want it to count...!). Above all else, though, I'm excited to check out everyone else's projects! ^^

Spriter's Resource has been an ANGEL (heh) for getting great in-style sprite reference, even so, I'm going insane trying to wrap my head around this. I'm really not used to pixel art, and trying to keep things in low res for smaller sized characters while maintaining "clarity" is deceptively difficult! It really makes you appreciate the genre even further. Also here are my notes from Google Slides loool.

"Attempt 1" was just me literally downscaling my concept art lol, Attempt 3 was  recreating it to be  more readable.

"Soft shade" is on or surrounds outline ares to imply shade, usually liited to 2 or 3 colors, often shared with other colors on the character. I guess?

I haven't really looked at the 3 and 4 sprites all that much yet either so they might've changed the style a little more by then but oh well. I don't mind going a little off. That being said, there's this doc from FmDraws but I would like something that goes more in depth on battle sprite specifically. I would prefer a non-video, but anything would help at this rate.

Yay!

I've decided to make this season a "game jam summer" for me, I'm planning on joining a few more while this one goes on since it spans four months but I'm really excited for some of the ideas I have cooked up. I'm kind of split between keeping in line with Unreal or using this as an excuse to learn GDScript >.< I'm a grown ass person but I'm all giddy. Good luck on planning your game ideas right now, everyone!

Nice and sweet! I came from the page of the more polished Lookouts. Before I finish it, I'd like to see what it used to look like. Pretty cool what you managed to accomplish in Jam time!
