Niiice one!!! Though I won in 3 seconds, after pressing the COKE button xD

(1 edit)

I will leave most part of the reply to my designer, but as a programmer, I was very pleased to read your comment! Thank you very much for playing!

The first game I rated with all 5 stars!!! 🤩

If this game doesn't win #1 in all categories, I will say it's rigged 😆

===

Also, I would like to talk to the game programmer behind the systems, as I am curious how certain parts were done. Hit me up if you are down for it 😉😉

Oh wow... I did not expect to play this game for like 2h

The game is simple , but addictive when you want to get a high score

I was able to win by spending only 26 seconds, after I found out you can do 2 of a kind and 4 of a kind

Really cool, really cool!!! And I agree, slime boss increased difficulty in just 1 go...

But besides that, clear mechanics, easy to play, and a mobile port is a MUST -  has crazy potential!

Heyy, we really appreciate your feedback!!!

Yes, I can understand that feeling, when you are barely getting away from that girl haha

Nice and simple, with some overly strict customers that wanted their fries ready in less than 1s xD

I liked the cuteness of it! 🤩

Ayy thank you so much! Did you already give it a try?

Pretty surreal to win, ngl 😆😆😆

The guy either takes 2, 3 or 5-6 seconds, and never over 10 (didn't happen to me at least)

The balance is an issue which I believe affects the enjoyment. As some commented, having some dynamic reaction and more variations for the opponent/NPC would make this game even better!

Hell yeah, thanks for playing and the comment! 🔥🔥🔥

I believe I spent a full day just to make movement nice with all kinds of parameters to tune, so I am glad to hear you liked it.

And which part of controls felt clunky so it can be taken into account for future games and fixed in this one after Game Jam?

Yoooo, I am here to share an achievement, I got to floor 22 I think?

(screenshot is from me reaching Area 3)

Feedback:

  • Pretty cool, pretty cool overall
  • Making a strong build is the main challenge,. My build (not full): at the end of the turn - full hp heal, +6 ammo, +10 turn if at least 1 enemy left, power to make everyone dizzy for 3 turns, and some random ones where I dont lose hp, ammo, turns at a 1/? chance.
  • Music and sounds are simple overall, but they add to the minimalistic atmosphere, and (I believe) sounds use random pitch here and there
  • I liked the variety of UI and icons
  • I didn't like that I HAD to choose something at the end of the floor (likely is required by game design)

Bugs/issues:

  • Some ability descriptions have duplicated text like "health health"
  • Power to make enemies dizzy for 3 turns includes the turn you use power on which means you only have 2 turns left, I expected 3 turns after they become dizzy, not 2
  • I expected turns to decrease any time I move, however they only decreased when there were ENEMIES, which made the description misleading
  • Balancing mechanics and making sure your build you were making for last 20 floors doesn't become useless or weak is an issue. You made it quite well, but I am pretty sure at some point you either become THE UNBEATABLE or just die no matter what.

Questions:

  • I wonder how you made the audio system / used audio nicely altogether including transitions

Amaaazing, so glad to hear haha!!!

Did you notice changes from the patches?

Hahaha, thank you very much!

Yeah, honestly, we ourselves didn't fully believe it was possible so you can call it a gamble. The narrative and atmosphere of Rendezvous With Death were I believe the most important aspects that we focused on, but of course we were low on time and wished we had at least 1 more day.

We are already working on a post-jam patch and might as well see how well it will be received by people, so a full game MIGHT come out one day.

In terms of how, I think, magic + luck + dedication + just 3 people and a cat, luckily all of us were of different roles (art, design, code) :)

Haha no worries, we are happy to see you play the game.

And we also think that it can be hard to read the name so it might be fixed in the next patch in addition to other things!

Happy to hear that you enjoyed playing Rendezvous With Death! 😊

Hey!

This is indeed a wrong name. Let me give you a hint!
Check 8th screenshot from the top on this page. The name starts with a letter "J".

Let me know what you got 😉

Yaaaayyy! So glad you liked it!

Yep, the whole gameplay is currently based on that, and there will be much more to it in the future... (updates?)

I like that you liked the game! And the sound, hell yeah... the moment I heard it I knew it had to be for when enemy is spotted haha

Honestly, we also saw that "feature" for the bullets to get out, so we might just turn it into an actual feature :D

Thank you so much for playing!

Hahaha yeaaah! At first we thought to maybe make bullets go through, but then my other developer said we should leave it as it would add some spice in the gameplay.

Thank you for playing! < 3

Nice and simple, pretty cool!

By the way, never say the game is boring! You should always believe in yourself!

Ayyy that's a pretty nice game!

I have to say there is quite some polishing & balancing needed, but overall the idea definitely has some potential!

Eyyy thank you for the feedback! Yeah, we already know about some of these which will definitely be improved in the next updates (P.S. planning to upload on Steam...)

But yeah, certainly give it another try ;)

The game really feels like some Mario or other retro Nintendo game especially because of the music.

It's simple, but at the same time polished and not over-stuffed which is nice.

Yeah, when I was playing, it really felt like I went back in time and played some old nice games haha

Work on it, improve it and one day we will see a truly amazing game with lots of levels and even greater mechanics!!!

The idea is quite unusual which makes it exciting. In the beginning I almost gave up when I couldn't figure out the idea of "holding" your friend and rotating him around to hit enemies.

However, as soon as I figured it all out, I started enjoying the game and working to beat my best or at least save up enough money for the shop haha!

Great one!

Ahhh, so glad you liked the "horror" part of it. This is all thanks to my fellow designer-developer.

Did you also get jump scared when you first saw the enemy? xD

Ayy thank you for the comment! It means a lot to us!

Heeey, for sure you do! Very happy to hear :D

Thank youuu!!! Had to filter so many ideas before deciding on this one haha

Ahhh stop ittt :D To be honest, we are also happy it worked out. Will try to keep up the great work!

We are working on a Twitter page for the game, so that we could notify everyone about the upcoming updates ;)

Either today or tomorrow we will add link to it on the game's page https://awedev.itch.io/pixel-break

Haha thank youuuu! We will work on it even harder after game jam!

We are thinking about improving upon this game after the jam is over, so at some point there will be a bunch more levels!

;)

Soo glad to hear that!

Haha, not going to lie, most of the play testers we had always had a jumpscare when finding first enemy... and especially the sound.

We will try our best to keep up the work, win and might even improve the project to put it on Steam ;)

Ayyy so happy to hear :D

You can't imagine how HAPPY I was when reading your comment. Because I found the spotting sound and decided to use it that way hahaha

Once again, thank you so much!

Hahahaha

My mom would 100% agree to your comment ;)

Yeah, that's correct. Thank you very much again! My fellow developer was confused by 2 different rating systems haha

So glad to hear! :D

Hey! Who knows, we might implement that feature as experimental in the next updates (if the game will look promising ;))
