I found a spot in the forest where I could get stuck just east of the village, so maybe that is what you ran into. I'll make sure it is fixed in my next update.
The cat eyes are automatic, although if you run out of Spirit Energy they will stop working until you regenerate your spirit energy. Maybe I need to change the wording to make it clearer, but they cause you to regenerate your Spirit Energy slower in the dark. If you hold B/SPACE/CIRCLE to run, you'll see your Spirit Energy drops faster in the dark and that it doesn't recover while you move. Maybe I should just not mention anything about Spirit Energy since it confuses some people and isn't really that important.
I'll look for the place you got stuck in, I haven't seen that before. If you can send a screenshot, that might help, but I can probably find it from your description. Thanks for pointing it out.
It took a few weeks, but it looks like the game has been indexed properly now. Support did get back to me, but it sounded like the indexing happened automatically and I just needed to wait for a while. I do have another demo that still hasn't been indexed in over a year, but I may not have completed all the steps for getting that game indexed and the full version is available on Steam anyway.

Some of the puzzles in the Cocoon aren't as clear as the others. It sounds like you are talking about the puzzle in the southeast corner of 1F. That puzzle can only be solved if you are physically in the Spirit World where you mentioned you can pick up the rock. I bet if you take another look you might be able to figure out how to roll the ball while you are in the Spirit World, but feel free to DM me if you'd like a stronger hint.
I believe I've followed the guidelines and waited almost a week, but I still don't see Spirit Quest show when searching for it on itch. Let me know if anyone here has advice. I've opened a ticket, but I'm not sure how long it will take to get processed.
