Holding should be enough of an improvement. Also I guess it will be more rewarding when there is more than 9 things to get.
I never built the Statue of His Majesty, only played for like 2h. I'm waiting for the full release before playing more :)

Please make it require less clicking after opening the first few fossils, it started out fun but quickly became a chore, when I stopped getting as many new ones. Nice dose of gambling combined with the normal progression.
I didn't do the math very exactly, but still felt that it was much better to do very very short runs instead of longer ones, feels like it should be more of a trade-off for fossils vs reputation to do short vs long, so maybe up the reward curve a bit more for later reputation rewards.
