Whatever animosity Josie gets is kinda deserved. She betrayed the prince; took away agency from the player; gives little information and absolutely worst of all: separated the player from the girls, leaving this open question of if the world has moved on. That is a poor situation to be in. She's a much more apparent villain than the ephemeral father.

Has the story made any meaningful progress in the past year?

I'm still a programming noob and I don't really know how it works in game dev but do you not use git/github to track changes?

The separate paths do not seem practical to me. Folk are going to be waiting a while to advance their path and you are going to have 3 times the work for each advancement.

I might have forgotten how it works but aren't the crestrooms always with Red? Why can't captivations or Red go into the crest when they're in trouble but instead need to go back to the lab?

South of the player's castle is a shop with a fortune teller who will tell you where the resources are for a small price per question.

I'm not used to full games but I'm apparently rated 1200 for problems and I get whooped.

Yo dude, I'm trying to go through the main story and I've just got to "meet Nora at Starlight Whisper" after the hypnosis. Problem is it requires 15 happiness/affection/smiles and I've got 14 with no seemingly possible way to get that last one.

That is sad. You've built a very interesting world and an intriguing plot within it. You can be proud of that.

The point at which Abby's story can't continue results in an amusing bug in that if you ask Olivia about the book (but can't continue 'cause you can't talk to Abby) you get the business card and the next day wake up once again to feet in your face. The loop repeats and you can end up with an inventory full of business cards and scraps of paper and waking up everyday to feet in your face. 

Not my thing but I'm sure there are some people who would be happy with this arrangement. 

Seems the correct hint is to go to the office in the evening.

Yo I got this. Ayane's level 12 hint says "Leave your room to the hallway on the first floor of the dorms" but I haven't been able to make that event trigger. Going from the bedroom (or other rooms) to the hallway doesn't work nor passing time in the hallway.

I've enjoyed the fresh playthrough by the way, things feel much smoother and aside from the rare error screen or grammatical error it's generally a much more polished experience than it was.

I'm glad I was able to contribute to the solution then, if just a little bit. :D

Fresh install works fine.

After a few minutes of not doing anything I got an error screen. Not sure if it happens on a fresh install yet, downloading now. The traceback file shows:-
