there are check points in the game, they are round figures on the floor, they have a mirrored glow and have some symbols.
There is an item in the main menu that explains a little about the rules. but as it is in portuguese a lot of people are not accessing it. My fault.
Each Portal has a cloth next to it with the number of stars needed to activate them. These stars are collected with the pages you pick up during the game. each time you take a page a star disappears on Sky.

Thanks for playing my game bro. By not taking the page on the second level you ended up showing a weakness in the level design. the only way to get through the portal is to collect the first page.

You almost finished the game, you have 3 feses, but to finish you need to collect all the stars from the first world.
