I was a last minute fill for one of the non-gnome characters at this game's debut convention. This game is a comedy larp and it knows it. It requires very little GM intervention, save for setup and the very end of the game. Even then though, I think the most intensive work for the game runner is making an arts and crafts table for the gnome horde to use and get silly with.

Speaking of which, I think it's very smart to have the GM take the gnome players into game space before everyone else to have their arts and crafts time. It creates an opportunity for all the players to get ridiculous without any of the "straight man" characters around to harsh the vibe, like a sort of theater warm-up before entering a scene.

If you want silly, quick fun with some friends, definitely check Gnarp out.

I got to play this game as Orpheus and had an absolute blast with my fellow larpers! This game barely has any space requirements (beyond just “can fit four people in a room,” I mean) so I can see it really being run anywhere – like, at a big convention or a college dorm, I think it’d run equally well. From what I could tell, there doesn't seem to be any heavy-lifting required on the organizer's part. Mostly printing out sheets, stuffing contingency envelopes, and putting one or two labels up. During the actual run, I don't think we asked our organizer a single question. I suppose if Orpheus decides to just declare that he's doing his Song, that might require an organizer's assistance to make what's happening clear, but I'm not sure about that even. Everything's labeled very clearly, so I can't imagine there being any confusion over what conditions need to be met to open contingency envelopes, which are the only mechanic in an otherwise very dramatic rp-heavy larp.

I highly recommend this game. It's very lovingly well-written. I especially loved what contingency envelopes I got to read in Orpheus' packet - they are incredibly short but convey so much emotion in their conciseness.

Played this game during the 2023 virtual bubble and had a blast! Would definitely recommend playing this towards the higher recommended count of PCs, otherwise the chat can get slow and this game truly shines when it's capturing chaotic, fast-pace energy.
