Was poking through the files because I frequently like to just look with games underlying spooky/horror elements, just because you can find cool stuff sometimes, and can anybody tell me how to make sure I do NOT trigger whatever event is called NoMoreChances in the files? No spoilers but I'd love to avoid it because I'm nervy on what would happen lmfao T0T
Also, spoilers for Faye's bad ending, but I wanted to commend the creator on this:
I did, genuinely, feel seriously creeped out and unnerved when the credits scene rolled by faster than usual, and somebody was talking to me, the player, and referring to the MC (I just chose Michael) as an almost separate entity, if that makes sense. Which, again, unnerved me because I always feel uneasy (in a fun way!) with these games with horror elements that give you a sense of immersion, only to break it to talk directly to you, the player, not the character you're playing as - a good example is Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club, I cannot play that game or else I'd pass away from fear but just watching that boundary between the game and player get bent really just gets me. If that makes any sense.
Anyway, yeah, not to ramble, but I felt a genuine ball of anxiety in my chest! I kept saying no, because I was curious, and I loved the abrupt tone shift from them asking nicely and friendly to being like cold and almost angry at me, the player. Plus I jumped when it force quit on me, that was lowkey a jumpscare for me. And I went back and did it again out of pure curiosity and felt that anxiety DOUBLE when it acknowledged that it recognized me coming back to see if it said something different! And I was way too scared to keep saying No that time, so I said yes to return to the debate.
Yap central here but yeah. I love the subtle creepy things interjected all throughout this game, like an uneasy feeling just slithering down your spine when you encounter it. Definitely took me off guard, because at first, I didn't notice the horror tag and at a first glance, I thought this would be a very lighthearted, fun, casual VN. And it is at times, like with Irene, Mitts, or Ramon's routes! But I was not expecting the level of lore I'd be encountering, or the feeling of unease I'd feel at times. Amazing, amazing work.
