something that was a bit confusing was that you couldn't see the customer until you got closer to them, so the first thing i tried interacting with was the coffee machine
also, on my second run, the very first time that i approached a customer (without having prepared a coffee first) the ghost told me that this wasn't the drink it wanted... but it also didn't tell me which one it wanted before hand. this didn't happen w/ the 2nd customer

funny as hell. idk if intended but the first ghost didn't tell me their order, just that "this isn't an expresso" i thought that it was intended, and i needed to memorize the orders required by dying and playing again... but then the second guy did order something specific? idk, confusing but still very charming and fun

"you are a barista and you hate everyone"

real and iconic

loved this! omg such a bummer that ppl don't think this is legit. should have way more votes!

were the dialogs at the start haikus?

also idk if this is a me thing but i spent a loooot of time at the main menu on the character names screen. i thought i needed to name and pick ONE character and i was like: ok, i want to be the mage, why doesn't this start?? probably a me thing, i don't really play rpgs, but yours looks and feels amazing!

(1 edit)

art is so cute! for some reason i couldn't pick up the cake once it was ready :/

edit: would have been nice to learn the game step by step through gameplay rather than the huge wall of text at the start :p

this is so cool! how did you do the light? did you use shaders?

the dialog is so goooood! i want more more more!

love the owner, the cth- i mean lewis. just lewis c:

kept trying to use the object that showed me how poisonous my coffee is, but i got no info from it :/
also it's not clear when im getting dmg

so funny! had a hard time playing with my trackpad tho. would appreciate alternative key-based controls c:

lowkey crushing on the receptionist ( - ' . ' - )

minimalistic and fun! i felt like wizard pacman c:

really nice atmosphere! idk why but i kept expecting a scary plot twist, glad it didn't happen c:

i could not find the library. and same issue as other games that i've been trying to play with my laptop: most laptops disable the trackpad while you're using the keyboard, so you can't move the mouse while walking which makes it a bit harder to blow the candles.

loved sarah's design, wish she gave a hint or two about the locations. i found the library key but i wasn't able to find the library :/

thanks! we interpreted the limitation "left in the dark" as being clueless or not knowing what to do, so the game being confusing at first was on purpose c: hopefully we didn't make it too confusing!

omg im so happy for your experience. thats exactly what we were going for!!! we interpreted "left in the dark" as being clueless, not knowing what to do c:

love the mood of this game. a bit to easy tho, wish the fuel wasn't so op, or the truck was faster, or... something to push me to try harder.  on the second run i tried losing on purpose and after getting to 0% fuel i was surprise that a single recharge got it back to 50%

not having any music on top of it was a great choice! really adds to the ambience.

u know that would be cool af? scary sounds while you're in the dark! :O

i loved your game too!

the art and music are 10/10!

i didn't see the connection with the limitation. it's there to affect the artistic aspect of it, but i thought the idea was for it to be part of the core game mechanics.

i love the gameplay, the idea that you can eat what you dont need to gain speed to get what you need is so cool!

are all the animals nocturnals only? i actually don't know much about animals, but if it is that case that's such a cool detail too!

man, i can't say no to a dancing cockroach!

movement was a bit confusing, and at some points i got stuck in the transition spaces between light and shadow

I LOVE CLICKERS! i have the cookie from cookie clicker tattooed on my right arm. this one felt a little slow, i wish there were always customers in screen to click. also the upgrades section seemed confusing, it was not clear to me how they affected the gameplay once purchased. :/ and the text was so tinyyyyy. sorry if this was only criticism! i'd love to see a fully fledged cafe-themed clicker.

so freakin cool!

so freakin cool

very cool concept of having to mine for ingredients! first run i couldn't figure out that i had to click to attack. i had to read it from the page's description. then i noticed that it was written in the floor. so tiny! fun fact: most laptops disable the trackpad when you're using the keys (so that in text editors you don't accidentally click somewhere else while typing). so in this case, i couldn't move the mouse while moving!

i stayed in the dungeon until the end of the time countdown. i thought it represented the night finishing, but it just kicked me out of the game

loved the old tv shader! and the character designs. would love to see this concept more fleshed out

i think i found a bug. i missed a bunch of times at the start cuz i was trying to modulate the volume of the computer. then, i was able to hit some keys, but after just a bit the items started despawning before hitting the white square, so there was nothing i could hit on :/

it doesn't run for me. tried on firefox and chromium on an ubuntu 22.04 machine :/
unity loading screen stops loading at around 80% and it never ends

here's a bit more info on us https://itch.io/jam/mini-jam-204-cafe/topic/5929304/super-duper-composer-and-pro...

hi everyone! we're ana and arturo. we just teamed up earlier today and we're looking for a sprite artist, preferably someone who wants to do SNES-like pixel art
ana specializes in composing videogame music and has composed several tracks and even a full OST for a previous game jam. you can check both here:

arturo is a newbie godot developer, with several years of experience programming but only about a month of game dev experience.

if you're an artist, and joining us last minute sounds good to you, DM arturo on discord @arturocuya

happy jamming!

hi bacon ben, still looking for a team? i'm a newbie godot dev (know how to program but just starting with gamedev) and i've teamed up with a composer. we're looking for someone who can do pixel art and if we can get extra hands on development that's more than welcome too.

if you're interested, hmu on discord @arturocuya

update: ana and me are teaming up! we're looking for someone who can do graphics now, preferably someone who wants to do pixel art.
if interested hmu on discord @arturocuya

IM EXCITEDDD

hi ana :) really liked your sonic inspired track. i'm really new in gamedev, less than a month of coding small mechanics but no completed works yet. however, i've been a software eng. for +7 years. if you don't mind teaming up with a newbie, hit me on discord @arturocuya. my timezone is utc -5
