The range on the attack is a bit short, and you're right there's not that much visual feedback. I think it's a bit more obvious once you've tried it for a bit longer (try go really close to an enemy and attack) or if you try it in multiplayer (if you plug in 1 or more controllers it enables split screen, which was the main focus).
I was going to add audio for the trumpets (as well as different attack types like strong and weak) but something came up so I had to reprioritise and get the main game loop working before submission.
