gravity-defying, wall-clipping furniture is such a cool idea! and the fisheye lens definitely adds to the spooky, i dunno why but the music almost adds to the spooky as well.
also, not sure if this is a glitch, but ended up running into 2 of those sparkly thingies in the final puzzle-type room, ended up having double panting which by itself was kinda spooky i guess
this ones an actual glitch, mouse doesnt disappear after i press the start button, fortunately wasnt a game breaker tho,
good game
I havent really organised my thoughts really well, but heres my review:
Very cool intro music & menu music, reminds me of those films that would include the films music during the presentation of the companies developing so definitely adds a professional touch!
The beep/click sound for menu buttons is pretty satisfying,
highscores are cool! small bug tho:
I think you meant to include times but the display bugs out or something? if its the number to the right that might explain? i think the number to the left is like 1st 2nd 3rd place (a bit hard to read as it seems to go from 0 i.e. 0 1 2 3
Got my camera stuck in a tree: getting stuck from walking my camera into a tree is a bit annoying, makes some fruits inaccessible but also added a kinda interesting challenge? could consider having obstacle which look more intentional i.e pits you can fall into, time bombs that freeze you for a second.
Ingame music sounds like rocket-league / sports music, kinda matches the player's soccer outfit but might have sounded better to use something like the wacky menu music? Alternately, if youre going for the cool modern dubstep thing, maybe consider changing the character and background to match a more neon type "rocket leage" / "Fifa" sports aesthetic?
Google 1 tap sign-up? could be a good idea to encourage players to stay and interact with the highscore community, also consider saving temporary highscores for players who only use offline 'cause those highscores are a really good motivator to keep playing
i love local co-op games! unfirtunately my family arent gamers so i dont really have many people to play with but it was an ok game! one thing i will suggest is you definitely wanna make sure to playtest your game and make sure the controls are easy to share with a partner.
Also, storys cool, musics REALLY cool, maybe consider an intro cutscene / comic panel slideshow to tell the story instead of the text menu? i.e. slideshow example panels: "1 maxi walks into barn, 2. purple portal appears, maxi pulled in, 3. maxi lands fallen on her side in purple dimension, dizzy, hears miro calling from below [end of slideshow/cutscene]"
also, ninja outfits! very cool, consider tying into story, maybe the 2 main characters originally trained as ninjas? how old are they? are they young apprentices? you probably already have some idea but getting that stuff and putting it into cutscenes (also, its especially cool if you can figure out how to say things without using words or like 1 or 2 words, but otherwise ingame dialog is good too)
Thanks! and yes, i think i know what you mean by the thumbnail:
'Cause i finished coding so close to the deadline (friday the night before jam submission) i didnt quite have time to pick out a proper thumbnail, i also ran with the original prototype name
And it was gonna be even more dreamlike, was gonna have a crossfading slideshow menu thing, and that trailer vid was supposed to go in the title too ( cant add videos to webgl unity builds unless links :( )
